Got this from the Burning Sky site....



I have arranged with GeoEye for a satellite image acquisition on Sept
2 at *precisely* 11:41 am. That is NOT!!! playa time ... as in, not at
12:00, not 12:15, not "oh shit where is my watch"... at *precisely* at
11:41am. So if you want to send out a notice to any artists who want
to do a project that is captured from *space* (as in not from the
airplanes) they need to do it at *precisely* that time. I will get the
imagery roughly 24 hours later and it will be posted soon thereafter."

I don't know who "I" is... But very cool.. 8) 8) 8)

Don't bring defaultia to Burning Man, take Burning Man to defaultia...... graidawg

Everyone in the city go out and stand just on the playa side of esplanade at 11:30am. Spell out words with people laying on the ground. Each letter MUST be a couple of people wide and at least 5 or 6 people tall, bigger is better.

It'll look a lot like this

here

You can see my project just around 1 and Esplanade (assuming you carry the arc around). It's an arrow pointed to the SE with an N at one end. This was about 2m wide and 40m long
It's going to be alright.

Can't wait! We set our alarm for 11:35 AM, rolled out of the RV in undies...laid down and made playa angels for 10 minutes. It was so fun it almost cured my crippling intoxo-salad hangover. :twisted:

Hate to break it to y'all, but the image res. is total crap relative to the aerial photos of past years. You will not be able to spot yourself, whether you were out on Wed (when it seems the frekken photo was actually taken) or Thurs.

In short, DL or load Google Earth, click the "More" tab in the left frame, and then check the box for "GeoEye Featured Imagery". Next, surf over Nevada and you will see the GeoEye logo. Click it to read the imagery info, then select "View Full Resolution Image" OR just manually zoom in until you can see BRC. Once you get down past 6000 ft. the image dithers... impossible to see individuals/details. Sigh aloud to complete the process.

Hey Moslin... I still have faith. Isn't that the image taken on Wednesday whereas right now we're waiting for the image that was custom-requested for thursday morning?

I really hope the picture was taken on Thursday. I wrote a surprise using water on the open playa for my wife that wasn't at the burn!!! fingers crossed. :)
