A bit starry-eyed and sappy

I've been tossing around the idea of going to Burning Man for eight years now and, after resigning myself to the fact that I wouldn't be able to go this year, everything came together in such a phenomenal way in the past two months or so.

I met a friend through a completely non-BM-related hobby and we bonded almost too quickly. We've become alarmingly good friends and he surprised me by gifting me with a ticket to Burning Man this year, as well as arranging for transportation, and giving me a bike.

Friends have pretty much thrown costume pieces at me left and right, simply asking for pictures of the garments at Burning Man in return.

Another friend has stepped up to help me stay on top of the classes I'm going to miss while I'm gone - taking it upon himself to teach me everything I'm going to miss.

It's astonishing to me how much my friends have helped me along in this process. I can't believe I get to go this year, and how much I owe to everyone.

See you all on the playa. I'll be wandering around with a stupid, dopey grin and stars in my eyes.

Thats awesome!
Thats how it seems to happen to the first year. I got lucky enough last year that I start talking to a lost friend from high school who happened to be going. At that point she said I should come to, I bought my ticket in in late June and was over prepared and ready to go by late August. It all just feel into place.

Alarming. I hope for your sake that's not prophetic. :) Enjoy your burn.
