Ideas for Gifts/Contributions that I can fit into a backpack

Post by Golgothan » Thu Aug 26, 2010 9:40 pm

I am flying into Reno and then catching a ride up to the playa (first timer). Basically, I need some ideas for good gifts / contributions that i can easily fit into my backpack and can easily and safely bring with me on the plane. Everything I will personally need for myself will already be up there with friend who flew up.

Here are some ideas i have so far:
-Batterys
-Glow sticks, and other glowing things
-bandanas
-Laser Pointers
-Ear Plugs
-Visors
-Umbrellas

Any other ideas? [/list]

Or glow sticks.

Take a moop bag and help pick up.

Keep an eye out for people who look like they need help.

The best gifts don't fit in backpacks, or anywhere else.

You don't need to bring any gifts. Just come and keep an open mind and be wiiling to help someone in need. When you come back next year, then bring something that moves you. Don't feel an obligation to buy stuff to pass out.

Sorry for the above post. I am feeling a little crazy today!

My suggestion is not to worry about gifts, especially as a first-timer. Just come and be there. You'll get some ideas for your next few years.

Gift-giving has been overblown for some reason. It's not required that people give out stuff. If it were required that we give stuff out, it's not a gift.

As Phil says...just go.

LED glowsticks are useful, but get expensive.

Nite-ize has some and you can buy in bulk ahead of time.
I like the ones that use AAA or AA batteries.
Most don't.

Novelty skulls are in the stores ready for hallowe'en. That would tie in with your name.

Bring some work gloves to help break down camp or help someone setup their camp.

Have a non-newbie show you how to dislodge rebar and offer to do everyone's rebar.

Take the cans to recycle camp. Take your neighbors trash home.

Offer a hippy a bath.

Don't get too messed up that people have to take care of you.

Don't take any pictures of naked ladies.

Sit your butt on the toilet when you take a crap.

Thank you.
