It was my first burn, and I felt kind of like I didn't get involved enough and didn't really have that peak experience I had hoped for. Expectations bit me in the ass. Then I came home and started telling bits and pieces to various friends and kept getting more and more excited about all the amazing stuff I did end up experiencing as I recalled all the stuff I did over the week. So I'm already planning what bike to bring next year, what to cook to give away, and where I want to camp next year. And yeah Appollonaris, it wasn't that good, too commercial this year :-) And I hear BassNectar didn't come, or when he came his sound card blew up (did he lose his load on the computer?) But I sure as hell had a great time.

Me, I had a good time. Weather was touch and go at the end, but no more from what I've heard of in the past.

This was my first burn, so I really don't have a way to compare experiences. I loved the event at the first few days, and as the frat boys started to arrive near the end, the mood changed.

At which point I adapted and went looking for worthwhile people to be with in smaller groups. And I found them in spades

It was a good time, and some of the art was simply amazing.

What's with all the bad experiences? I thought the port-a-potties were quite clean. Awfully civilized for there to still be a roll of clean toilet paper at 5 o'clock in the morning. The weather was pretty standard, though cold on the last days. The art was amazing. Almost everyone, except for a few spectator drunks, was great.

I certainly had a wonderful time. And damn, I miss the playa already.

The first half of pre-event week was hot. Thursday morning at probably around 10:30am it got extremely windy and blew into Friday. It rained Saturday and Sunday and got cold. Event week was decent but fairly cold nights. A bit before noon on Tuesday after the burn the wind kicked up again and it was back to the "brown out" we had pre-event. There was so much dirt in the air that it was brown, not white.

Overall I would give this year's burn a 6 on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being most awesome but that probably had more to do with placement, logistics, and personal issues than the nature of the burn. One thing that was way different was the placement given us provided practically no traffic on the block we were on (A between 4:30 and 5:00). That section was pretty dead compared to the amount of passersby we have seen in previous years. I think it was because we were close to a lot of "infrastructure" areas that just weren't that interesting (unless you want to ogle heavy equipment) so it was sort of like living at the end of a cul du sac. And none of our events got into the WWW so people who were using "the book" would not have known about anything we were doing.
