Live Feed
I clicked on your Link and I'm getting nothing. Do they turn it off at a certain time? I couldn't go this year and I want to live vicariously through others.
Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

Re: Live Feed
Yes, I guess until they get fully staffed. Too bad it was not one of those remote controlled camera that let the viewer control the camera.maryanimal wrote:I clicked on your Link and I'm getting nothing. Do they turn it off at a certain time? Likely due to a whiteout.I clicked on your Link and I'm getting nothing. Do they turn it off at a certain time?
If anyone's checking not that the playa is currently in a white out before 1130am on Monday morning.

Last nites feed was mind blowing They must have a newer camera. The resolution was much better than last years or they finally figured out how to focus it.
Only complaint is why did they place the transmitter disk right in front of the camera. Unless they're hiding something?
OK, Two complaints- the color balance is off

I should be there!
I just saw a live feed for the first time and it's out again!!! I really wanted to go...this would have been my first time too. Well next year I'm going no matter what! Ok...enough pity party. It would be nice to have a camera where people could walk up to and say hi to family and friends who couldn't make it or just do something really stupid.

Wondering if it was the angle, or maybe the camera was pointed toward the open playa...? I was watching the cam yesterday afternoon, and was a little worried. I was thinking that I had never seen the city look so sparse, almost like it wasn't even there. I saw people moving back and forth, so I know I wasn't looking at whiteout, but not that many, and not a tent in sight. A few art pieces and that was it.
Anybody know what attendance was like this year? I'm hoping that this was just an illusion created by the way the shot was lined up.

My curiosity got the best of me and I just checked it out, I really wish i didn't because it left me a bit more depressed than happy. It's the same comments spread throughout here on eplaya and tribe about burning the man and bacon and such, to such a volume that pushes and drowns others from commenting thats interesting, exciting, or new. Reinforce's my theory about bman populations trending to everything else thats mass entertainment oriented and yet commercially packaged to be edgy or trendy. Similar to a MTV Spring Break show for adults, or renting a houseboat to party at Lake Powell.
So I still didn't realize bman related social networks had slipped so much into the area of an old and mostly empty *chan board, but I will quickly get over it and continue to stick with those who avoid public attention. Going to sink back into the depths of private counter-culture movements again. It's necessary, it's the public thats the problem, as with just about any subculture that gets thrown in the spotlight and has to deal with becoming public.
Not that great things about bman still don't exist, they do, especially some of the amazing people. But they are far and few in-between now, and it's not really worth everything else to deal with once everyone else finds out about it.
