Newbie

Post by Blurry » Wed Sep 01, 2010 11:33 am

Hello all. My name is Nicole (call me Blurry) and I'm 26. I currently live on the upper peninsula of Michigan, but will be relocating to New Mexico shortly and, since I will be much closer and money won't be as big of an issue, plan on attending my first burn in 2011. I've joined here in the hopes of being as prepared as possible.

You've made a good start. You might wwant to start poking around on the Q&A, Tips and (Oh heck, drawing a blank here) sub-forum to really learn the ropes. Plus, you can ask questions while only us small handful of snark monsters are here, rather than the boardful.

Welcome Blurry! I've visited near your great area with a trip to Mackinac Island, beautiful country. I live in the Arizona desert and have been to the burn a few times. If you're not used to the desert, it is an adjustment. It is a beautiful yet harsh environment. You've started in a good spot to get tips and advice. I like your willingess for preparation.

Make sure you read just about everything printed with links on the main website page, good information. Preparation, principles etc. I'm looking forward to the day of the burn, they will post next years theme on the website. Will give you ideas for participation in 2011. Look for any regional groups for New Mexico. Enjoy the anticipation.....well worth the effort!

Blurry, wait about a week. Watch the burners as they return with tales of what did work and what didn't work. Take notes, then see you in the dust!
