non-drowsy pills - driving late at night
Hi there,
are there any recommended natural non-drowsy pills that I can take for driving to the Playa late at night. Specifically the drive along 175?
Cheers,
Noah

Sound advice. I hope the OP will take it.Ugly Dougly wrote:Get some rest.
Pills, caffeine, etc. might create the sensation of being rested and alert, but they can't produce the reality. One's judgment will still be impaired, and tragedy can result.
Even if it doesn't, one's body will pay the price for any neglect, and that will catch up to one on the Playa or anywhere else. So, the time one might think one gains through an early arrival, one's going to lose anyway through drowsiness on arrival. One might as well be good to oneself.
Learning to sleep when you need to on the road is really essential.
There are places where it isn't safe to stop though.
Road hypnosis can be the real issue on some roads.
It does mean you shouldn't be driving.
Caffeine only works if you don't normally take it.
The drug the military uses is probably the best choice.
Studies of stimulants show faster responses, worse accuracy, when tired.
Pseudophedrine is an option.
You need a pill splitter.
Use the smallest dose possible for the effect.
Persistent and disturbs sleep.
I'm told viagra works to keep you awake, again in small doses.
They say when it wears off, you crash hard if you're sleepy.
That could be dangerous.

Last year was my first burn.
We rolled into the city at 8am Monday morning after having been awake and driving for 40 hours straight. We put up our camp, and laid down to take a "nap."
That "nap" lasted the whole day, the whole night, and we didn't emerge until mid-morning the next day. Two of the three of us were sick, and I'm willing to bet it was from running ourselves dry and our immune systems being unable to keep up with it.
So it's not so much a good idea to skip sleep in order to get there as soon as possible, because there is a very good chance that you'll just be spending that time you save, and then some, on recovery time once you get there.

God Please, don't make me make myself look like a moron...
