hello
my name is singer and i live here in portland. i would be very interested in talking to you about getting a ride. i dont have a car but if you are comfortable with using your RV that would be great! id be happy with taking a bus down to eugene to meet you and splitting the gas money and any other expenses that you may need help for. mainly wondering what your time frame would be of leaving and returning... you can either send me a message on here, or email me at , or you are welcome to call me at anytime.... anytime... at 503-914-8342. it will be my second time going as well. just in case you were wondering, i am a 19 year old, very relaxed, responsble, but still like to have alot of crazy fun sort of guy. please get back to me as soon as you can

(Can we organize caravans here too?)

Don't need a ride, may or may not have enough room for another person (I'll know when I get the vehicle packed up), but would be very happy to caravan with other vehicles. The plan was to take off first light Saturday morning before Gates Open.

Can take another rider if you're with a group and would like a little more room for stuff.

I am happy to have found so many replies so quickly. Thank you all so much. It would be great if anyone who is interestend could emial me dirsctly at My plan is to leave as early as possible (sat or earlier) and go home monday after all the burns of course. Last year I drove at night and it worked great. Even though we drioove from 10 pm to 9 am we bumped into a lot odf other burneres on the way. I also Have an idea about getting watter on the wayso it wont have to be carried all the way threre. Itsa heavy and effect your gas mileage. Ill give more details about that later.

Post by burnmyboxers » Fri Jun 11, 2004 12:07 pm

Lets get a big caravan going. I think it would be fun. My housemates would probably like to join as well. They will be in another car. We'll get out that walkie talkies and have a blast. Also ...Does everyone have a camp?? Maybe we can make a new one. :) I have theme ideas. :)

Caravan good, did it last year and wouldn't do it any other way.

Walkie-talkies good, we can recompress and entertain each other en route :)

And — NO TRAILER THIS YEAR!!! WOOHOO!!!!! :D

What, overnight at some venue or another? Instant Recompression! Start the camping trip early, wheee! Or pre-Playa pajama party. Cool! :)

I was going to suggest a hook-up before August and figure out the whereases and whatfores and how-tos. We used to meet at the 5th Street Beanery but they have live music now — not too good for carrying on a conversation.

How about Chang's Mongolian on West 11th near Target next Friday evening? Say, 7PM?

Hey, no worries — nobody showed up!

I was there at 6...nothing but families with squawking toddlers and babies...guess that's what happens when you go to an ice cream parlour on Father's (Daddee's?) Day...And stayed there for about an hour. After that, I called "Quits!" and went over to Borders...

I did see a couple folks that might have been Burners, one guy had long red hair and a colourful t-shirt, but they were across the quad and walking towards Hallmark and BB&B.

Maybe I picked the wrong day? Should have been clearer in the coords? Really want to hook up with folks. Perhaps later this week? Who's got what open?

Oh bullshit! :D

I go up there for a monthly live-action Werewolf game and the Fire Jam every month, and Freecycle runs infrequently — you can drive down here once a month, can't you?

If you really wanted to, you could. :)

We're still sorting that out...

Here's my suggestions:
  • Cold Stone Creamery/Johnny Ocean's/Cafe Yumm. They're side-by-side in the Oakway Center, so if you've already had dinner you can get ice cream or if you're not into sweets you can go get a burger, and if you're not into meat you can go get a salad. Not too spendy, $5-$10

Jung's Mongolian on W. 11th across from Wally World and Target. Eat whatever you want, great lineup of ingredients, steam rice and tea included, cool people. Downsides: it's ALWAYS crowded, and as a result they kind of rush you in and out. Plus it's very noisy, not much good for conversation. Get stuffed on $10.

Saturday Market: Free, very cool atmosphere, in character, easy access from both the train station and the bus depot. Problems: very chaotic, very noisy, very crowded, sprawling. We'd have to know exactly where and when to meet and have some identifiers as a backup because if we didn't, we'd all get hopelessly lost. Throw in Playa Flake Factor and it's almost a "Fuhgeddit."

Or, we could do like we did at the Burn Equinox and go to Original Roadhouse Grill at the Gateway Mall in Springfield. I'm a regular there, I know one of the waitresses, she's very very cool and would take good care of us, the food's great, but it's spendier than all the rest. You could drop $15 effortlessly and that's assuming no bar tab. I know how rough it is to scare up that kind of cash, especially this late in the year, but what does everyone think? Investing a $20 a head into a once-a-month get-together, is it doable? Or should we just hit Cold Stone/Johnny Ocean's/Cafe Yumm or...

Your suggestion here? Anyone want to make a suggestion?

caravan meeting

Post by shocrow » Wed Jun 30, 2004 8:57 am

Okay this weekend is the fourth of july so people might be really busy but i suggest that we make a firm date for a get together. how's about this coming thursday evening around 7 pm at chao praya in west eugene near sam bonds and red apple grocery store. its a great place to eat, not too spendy, or that great, cheap vietnamese place on chambers near 11th and next to ring of fire. feed back anyone? shocrow

You mean tomorrow (July 1) or the next Thursday (July 7)? The one on West 7th?

Not especially fond of Vietnamese food but there's a few decent Chinese places around there. I can do either date.

Okay, sounds good, let's do it! Chao Praya! :D

I'll be wearing a black and white sarong and a Ganesha megaprint t-shirt.

Can we move it up to 8PM or is that too late?

The restaurant's small, it's well-lit, everyone can see everyone else, there's only ONE Chao Pra Ya Thai across from Red Apple Market on W. 6th in Eugene, Oregon...

I was a little late but I wore exactly what I said I would, and sat at the counter, VERY visible...

So what I'm trying to figure out here is —

HOW IN DA FUCKING GOLD-PLATED HELL ON THE HALFSHELL DID WE MISS EACH OTHER?!?!??!??!?!?!

I don't know. Maybe the cat has some answers. I give up. I'm just going to trust to chance from now on...

Hey all,
There are a few of us from the coast that are heading out Saturday early and would be happy to caravan.
Which route are you all planning on taking? Don't think that we'll be able to get to Eugene to meet you all before hand, but would be happy to join in on the road.

You have 30 days to get everything done and packed!

This is assuming a two-day lag for packing up (unless you're smart and have started on that, like me ;)), loading the truck/trailer/car/et alia.

But hey, we can help, somewhat. Starting tomorrow night, I'm hosting Eugene Burn Craft Nights here at Wolf Camp:Babylon. Bring munchies/drinkies to share, your small-to-medium-sized projects, and of course your Playa vibe :) We'll have a sewing machine available, and in Burner tradition I can share some materials and geegaws.

July 29, 6PM —?

PM me for coordinates and/or directions. Cat advisory (for those with allergies).
