Public showers at 2 and G?

Post by Elliot » Sun Sep 12, 2010 9:03 pm

:D
Was this supposed to be secret?

In my capacity as "taxi driver" for Kinetic Cab Company, I dropped off three people at 2 and G. They went into a camp that appeared to be a public shower. Groups of people went in and out of what seemed to be an industrial size fiberglass shower room, slightly wider at the top than at the floor. I think I saw white soap suds. There was an 18-wheeler flatbed trailer next to it, loaded with liquid tanks.

I wanted to strip and join in, but a little inner voice told me this might be by invitation only. I'm not the least bit modest, but I'm polite.

BM has a rule against public showers and pools. Did I just let some kind of secret cat out of the bag? If there is a legal way around the "public" bath prohibition, then this was a fabulous idea. (Though obviously not cheap, what with the 18-wheeler.)

What was that camp? Can I do this on a smaller scale?

I talked to a fellow, pre event, who, said he had worked on just such a project, sponsored by Dr. Bronn(*%*% soap company.
they were using soap, compressed air, and water to make a sudsy thing for washing within.

Perhaps, that's where it was?

I wasn't there this year, but I may have run into those guys in another context. They have a business running the shower machine for festivals. Part of the deal is marketing for the soap company. I would have to say that if you ask if something is illegal, various government agencies put on their thinking caps to find a regulation and a permit fee that applies. And if I were them, I would say that it's "only for members of their camp". Many food camps have used this tactic. The Astral Headwash and something like the body wash machine weren't secret.

(Ygmir - yes correct, those are the guys)

it was more of a foam shower/party

a load of people would hop in the tub then they would destroy everyone with foam and then hose everyone off, it was great fun and super refreshing!!
Catch the beats, embrace them and let them go!! )*(

I was in the last group they did. Apparently they ran out of water or something so there were about 20 or so naked burners standing awkwardly around, half-soaped-up while they fixed the problem.

I don't know where they got more water. I don't want to know.

Pretty awesome experience though. I will look them up again next year. The wet rubber mat felt really weird on my feet after several days on the playa.
