Anyone look for Carl Cox on Thursday night?

Post by yellowpants » Sat Sep 11, 2010 9:51 pm

Carl Cox doesn't seem to be as popular as Daft Punk, but seems like a few dozen people still ended up at 4:30 and B looking for the world famous DJ.

Were you one of them?

Yup, around 6 of us were drunkenly swerving around in the search of King Carl.
(I heard, afters, that he'd pulled out due to family matters).

Seb Fontaine played an absolute blinder onWednesday night ( at least I think it was Wednesday; tis all a bit of a blur)

DJ worship is the ultimate act of spectatorship on the playa. I wish DJs and the legions of morons who worship them would realize they can only budget for Coachella next year.

My camp, Mystikal Misfits, all laughed very hard last year on Thursday night as thousands of people streamed past our camp toward the Daft Punk hoax out at 420 and E (duh).

This year's hoax was even funnier - cuz guess what our address is? 4:30 and Baghdad. We also had by sheer coincidence the fanstastical DJ Mike D spinning, just for fun, nothing formal. Just little ole me behind the bar. And here comes another 1,000 people looking for Carl Cox. Several of our campmates came home and kind of shat themselves when there were like 1,000 bikes in front of our camp....he he.

Thank you Ding Dong for an excellent night!

Carl Cox had to cancel his Burning Man journey this year due to family medical emergency. This happened a couple months prior to BM starting. He was super bummed out not to be back in BRC. He should and hopefully will be back next year at OT.

In other CC news, anyone hear his BM related cd he released in the UK earlier this year...double disc ?? Lots of great pics from his experience out on the Playa. Its great. I highly recommend checking it out if you love his music.
Fuck you, fuck you...you're cool, fuck you !!

As a community-building initiative to get new people to be interested in Burning Man, they're offering the double disc free when you purchase your 2011 Burning Man ticket!

You know I thought you were tossing some snark, but I googled.. and was pleasantly surprised to see that you indeed were not..

" Even now, a year and a half on from his momentous trip, the awe with which he describes his first visit to Black Rock, Nevada, is still readily apparent.

"It blew my mind," Cox, now 47 and still literally larger-than-life, concedes enthusiastically. "Being on the Playa was, without doubt, the best thing I've done in my life. Purely based on what it gave me, and why I did it.""

"I feel that I've found a necessity in my life," he says. "It allows me to be who I want to be, and it allows me to share my music with everyone else. I am in Burning Man now - I'm gonna go again next year and I'm gonna go again the year after that. The things that I experienced there, the things that I saw, the people I met, how I felt about it when I left, it gave me another purpose to live."
