Any leftover necklaces?

So this was was my first burning man (I had an amazing time) but I felt like I was the only one in my camp who wasn't gifted a cool 2010 burning man necklace. I really wanted one as a souvenir. Does anyone have any extra necklaces they could gift/trade me? I have other gifts left over.

Just a frickin' minute! So, to you getting a necklace handed to you was what Burning Man was all about? Kinda shallow, don'tcha think?

Not that getting a cool necklace or whatever isn't fun. I've got mucho necklaces, pendants, bracelets, shot glasses, but y'know what...I didn't go there with the expectation that I'd score anything. I just went about about my business having a good time, engaging in conversation, being helpful, giving a hug, listening...IOW, just hanging out. Anything I have ever received just came to me with no effort.

Do you think that perhaps you were trying too hard. Did you get out and participate, engage the community?

You want a Burning Man necklace...try eBay...there should be lots of leftovers for sale by now.

I got some great things at the gate. A map, a book of events, a sticker, another thing about surviving something, then I got a newspaper...I think it was a newspaper. I don't know where the fuck they are now...but they were great...I think...never really read them. Yeah, a necklace would be cool.

I actually facepalmed first, then scurried over to Ebay to see if it was true. Thankfully, I didn't see a one.

As someone who has strung beads (before getting involved in Burning Man), I have to say that seeing a necklace described in doggie bag terms si a little disturbing.

Raven9940 if you decide to come next year make and bring your own cool necklaces. There is too much a shortage of gifts on the playa as you noticed and we need more people giving. Take your experience and make next years a better burn. Someone just might trade you for something far better than a necklace.

Thought you earned the necklace in year 2??

Kidding, that is when I got mine (although I gave out ones I made year1). It was worth the wait. It was a simple glass formed square with a little man inside fused together. It inspired me to learn how to make it because I thought it was so cool. a year later I bought a kiln and now make lots of glass things..

Hope the one you get inspires you to new heights!

yea! Just like you, the necklace I received did the same for me. It's inspired me to come up with my own commemorative necklace to share at Flipside next year as well as BM 2012.

the necklace I received did the same for me. It's inspired me to come up with my own commemorative necklace to share at Flipside next year as well as BM2012.

Perhaps some other piece of schwag could be re-purposed into a necklace.
Borrow a dremel and drill some holes.
Get out the GOOP and glue on a bail.
Get out the pliers and do some wire-wrapping.
