looking for Love on the playa
I want to fall in love on the palya. I've fallen in love with the playa I'd just like to share that love with some one. My biggest problem is I keep finding the "right now girl" and not the "right girl", lol. I'll keep looking...

Lol.. then you have to have the dreaded playa breakup too.. Especially after those nights of a drug induced accidental falling in love session. I swear once I saw a thread on here devoted to nothing but playa breakups..Bounce530 wrote:Festi-crushes never work.

I fell in love my virgin year. It was beautiful, magical, serindipitous, and sweet. 2 months after the burn, he quit his job and moved cross country so we could be together. After a few months of trying the relationship in the real world, we realized how different we are, and it wasn't working. He moved back across country, definitely angry that I had somehow bamboozled him into thinking he was in love with me.
That was a very important lesson for me.
Do I believe I loved him and he me? Yes. Do I think that love was enhanced, stoked, and amplified by the immense amount of love energy that exudes out of everybody and everything on the playa? Yes.
Now, I'm not so cynical as to think that I won't ever fall in love on the playa again. Hell, I fall in love every fricking day out there. But, if I am ever in the situation where I find somebody who I think is my soulmate, my other half, etc... I won't shun it away, but I won't be in such a hurry either.
Don't think you can't share that wonderful love with somebody. It might just be for a week, it might even be just for a minute. Or it may last. Just remember to keep an open mind, an open heart, no expectations, and test things out in defaultia for a while before quitting your job and moving across the country.

Maybe not as long term relationships, but they can evolve into wonderful long term friendships.Bounce530 wrote:Festi-crushes never work.
This was the first year I went through the week without a playa boyfriend. I've always met & connected with someone fairly early on, this year... nada. I was telling a friend (former "festi-crush" himself) on Friday that it was my "off" year, and it really didn't matter, I was having a blast.
30 minutes later I met an amazing man & spent the rest of the event with him, and have been talking to him regularly since we've gotten home. Definitely someone who's going to be a friend for a long time.
Object of the story- don't go looking for "love". If it's going to happen, it will happen.

So how does having a Crush on an eplayan work? Most of whom I've never met. (Missed Meat-n-Grope. er... meet-n-greet) only to be told by a few T.City residents that, a good many are Sock puppets belonging to other Sock puppets. one asked who the object of my lust was, and I Laughed, and Laughed.
No but Seriously...

Well, hm.
Your pulse races when you see your crush's name as the last poster in a thread.
You re-read posts that have cause those chills to go up and down your spine.
You rush home and turn on the computer hoping that eplayan posted.
You print out the best posts and post them next to your mirror so you can re-read them when you brush your teeth.

Would depend on the specific eplayan, I think. Having a crush on a sock could be problematic, unless you like unfulfilled fantasies.knowmad wrote:So how does having a Crush on an eplayan work?
I don't develop crushes based on typing skills. I want charm, dammit.

but on a reality note; took a while for me to realize having a crush on a camp mate; kinda, meh. Ties in good with the Burn Ethos of Don't bring anything to the Playa you don't want Broken, Dusty, Lost, or Penetrated.

I'll be going to next years burn with someone I love, and he loves me. We love each other for who we are right now. We haven't met yet but have known each other for 8 months. He told me BM takes a toll on relatonships. We will meet many times before next BM, and get to know each other better during that time. I'm not very worried about things. I'm just excited to go to my first burn next year! And if we happen to remain good friends, well that will be a blessing!
Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.
You can't fall in love at Burning Man, or anywhere in the matter of a few days.
Well, ok, you can fall "in love," be infatuated, etc.
Love is work. Love is a choice.
My bestest, closest friends are people I met randomly at a burn and through the years, despite living hours and hours away and only seeing each other a few times a year, they have been better friends than the people I've know for ten years, in my town.
I'm not saying it isn't possible to meet someone and have that develop into something, but to "look for love on the playa" is naive and shows a lack of a true understanding of what love is.

First rule of Burning Man is "Don't take anything you aren't willing to lose". This includes relationships.maryanimal wrote:I'll be going to next years burn with someone I love, and he loves me. I've fallen in love both years i've been on playa.
We hung out, made out, fucked, licked, and groped all week....
Then that dreaded saturday comes and the FUCKING Larry burns my love to the ground. It is so tragic because each year i dream of having my love sitting next to me on the drive home.

This thread reminds me of the tale of the proverbial musk-ox that wandeers the world in search of its own scent.

Well fuckin' thank you CFM! Nothing says lasting friendship like sharing a pee jug on Gate road!C.f.M. wrote:You can't fall in love at Burning Man, or anywhere in the matter of a few days.

And I prefer the term "ginger".
Other than that, I'm easy to tag team.
