I too found that part a little hard to swallow until I considered the context and circumstances... this was on the playa and the officer was undoubtedly on a revenue run, not there to actually arrest people (and take away from revenue creation time.) Since an arrest means hauling the person somewhere for housing, paperwork, etc...

Besides, I'm nearly certain that the signature on tickets is just a promise to appear. Not signing it doesn't mean you don't have to appear or pay the ticket.

Not signing a ticket is like telling a cop to go fuck himself..

Signing only means you agree that you have recieved the ticket..

Cops are officer of the court where you have a chance to disagree with the ticket..

Not showing up in court is a large insualt to the court..

You will be arrested at any future contact will police..

I welcome any attempts to keep law enforcement in check. This year was a doozy. Drove in and first thing I saw was a young dude slammed down over the hood of a cop car having his pockets emptied. It just kept on going from there, all week.

We go out in the middle of nowhere, away from society, and pay big money for the privilege of using our own land (dry and dead as it may be) to be ourselves and NOT get arrested for it. Leave us the fuck alone!

EDIT: Person above me acts like he knows what he's talking about, but definitely doesn't. Watch yourselves.

All right drutter, How about pointing out just where I don't know what I'm talkingt about..

What was happening with the guy over the hood of the police car? Did you stop to assist him? Do you know he did not pull a gun on the officer?

You indicate in your post that you "just don't "get it".. Buying a ticket from a vendor appears to give "you" the right to break the law.. Inspite of all the warning from the general pop, BMorg and the police You just don't "FUCKING DON'T GET IT"

It seemed to me that the cops were only there to show off their MVs and give everyone light shows...

I know - plethora of quadrunners, LOTS of agencies I don't remember seeing there before, etc. Wish I'd worked Comm this year, would have loved to see the inside story!

(Also, I didn't get my annual BLM blinky... damn!)

Now... since when does buying a ticket to an event exempt you from the laws on public land that damn near EVERYONE warned you about, from the peeps on this and other boards to the JRS to the SURVIVAL GUIDE (mandatory reading) ad nauseum?? That's like buying an airplane ticket, then feeling as it's "your" seat so you have the right to light your shoe bomb off at 29000 feet, and how dare they infringe on that.

Or because the white house is federal property, you have the right to go up and graffiti on it because it's on "our own" land... UG!

I, also, want to hear you tell me, specifically, how Unjon "acts like he knows what he's talking about, but definitely doesn't". This is gonna be good...

Upjohn, are you too stupid to realize that if you walk up to a cop interrogating someone and interfere, that you will then be arrested? Pulled a gun on a cop?! What kind of stupid question is that, troll? That's never happened in the history of BM.

Sorry, I just saw the 4761 posts number. Anything over 1000 is automatically a troll that never gets off the keyboard and has diarrhea of typing.

Epic, seriously why are you bashing people for participating on the board? If they have something to contribute let them post. I'm also going to suggest that you take a look at exactly where you're posting. This is the ePlaya....the electronic forum of Burning Man. And the way I see it and I know I'm not alone, here's one of the 10 principles that definitely applies here.

Participation
Our community is committed to a radically participatory ethic. We believe that transformative change, whether in the individual or in society, can occur only through the medium of deeply personal participation. We achieve being through doing. Everyone is invited to work. Everyone is invited to play. We make the world real through actions that open the heart.

Long story short, bashing people on post count is the fastest way to turn yourself into the very thing you accuse others of.
