Don't advertise it to those that you know wouldn't understand, simple as that. Save yourself the judgments. As someone else that lives at least PT in FL, 99% of the people here couldn't even imagine someone wearing something that doesn't have a logo on it, let alone ass-less chaps made out of 3" monster fur.

You know, I was just in Florida and I DID see damn near everyone wearing clothes with huge brand labels, most notably "Hollister".

Junglesmacks advice is perfect. Just don't try to explain it to anyone.

As I'm typing this, there are 4 piles of clothes sitting in front of me for my semi-decade cleaning. I am finding some older stuff with Abercrombie & Fitch, the Gap and Old Navy on them. For some reason, I can't ever imagine that I would wear that stuff. What the hell was I thinking way back when, when I bought this crap. It's all off to Goodwill, tags and all.

Abercrombie & Fitch??

Maybe unconsciously questioning your sexuality? Because nothing says "Maybe I am" like a A&F hoodie worn with any version of their cargo shorts.

Throw in a few casually worn plastic Mardi Gras necklaces and your position as Pass Around Party Bottom Boy is asssured.

Ok. I will say this as a recent non-virgin. Screw them all. It's not nice but it is true. You need to do what is best for you! What you want is more important than what they think. You aren't hurting anyone, so you should do it! Once more, if they do love and respect you, they will respect your decisions even if they don't agree.

For me, no one believed I was really going, that someone like me would go. But I felt a draw towards it, have for awhile now. So, I went. With a few disapproving faces but noone said a word to me about it. And you know what? It was one of the best decisions of my life! Mother (his burner name) told me, when I left, I would know the true meaning of home. And I do.

And I miss it so.

Junglesmack is spot on. Ironically you are trying to explain something to people that you haven't experienced. More ironically after you experience it, it will likely be even harder to explain accurately.

Typically by saying or doing something that's so originally stupid that it marks you for life in the *ding* "community". (drink)

My sister told me that she knows I don't do anything that Burning Man is actually mis-known for: drugs, alcohol, nudity sex... (I'm working on the last two!) so she knows there's got to be something else, something pretty different from what people assume. She tells her church friends about leave no trace. It blows her away that something that size gets built and gets removed every year. She loves the pictures of all the stuff people make. I basically take the photos for her, since I know how little my efforts in that realm actually convey.
