I roll ciggies all year long. I take a break from smoking rolled cigg during burning man so although yer camp idea is a good'n, i will not be joining you.

I would reccomend if you do paypal/bulk orders you get reg, light, and menthol tobaccy

No, while it would be fun I am already superubercommitted to the Village I'm in, plus starting my own gig next year (being rites of passage and all that) so I wouldn't be able to pull it off, but I'm sire there is someone who would be a natural. (Plus, the chainsmoking aspect, which going by what I've seen from "real" lobbyists for the industry, seems to be a job requirement!, would wipe me out!!) But I allreciate the thought!

I just started rolling my own since the pact act wont let me order my smokes online.

Cigarette tobacco runs about $20 for enough to do a carton of smokes.

But pipe tobacco isnt taxed the same and I found a brand that tastes the same for $6. (4 aces regular, mild, and menthol.)

The tubes are $1.98 for 200 with the filters in them.

The sleeve roller I bought does 2 at a time. (premier supermatic twin.)

Rollers are $3 to $10.

I think mine was $7.

So my carton of smokes runs about $9.

I HATE those injector rollers. Once the tobabby starts to dry and crumble the fail rate sky rockets.

When the backy starts to dry a postage stamp sized piece of lettuce in the bag moisens without flavoring the tobacco.

I liked my old bugler bail roller better, but once I got used to this one, its working out pretty good.

Oh, those altoids tin that everyone carrys for an ashtray are the perfect size for a pack of king size cigs.

I cut a 2" hole in the top of a gallon paint can and bungeed it to the handle bars on my trike to use as an ashtray.

The bars fold up for easy entry to the bike so when they were in the upright possition it was a communal ashtray and I started calling the trike the swiss army ashtray.

Is just occured to me, that we should have a Tobbaco Lobbyist and someone Lobbying against it during the 2 hour period. I mean Lobbying HARD! See who stays and who goes. It would be an interesting social experiment, but how to catch it all on camera without having someone jsut running around taking pictures of everyone which can ruin the natural feel and make people self-conscious. Ideas??

That is really crazy that you are doing this. This year was my first burn and I came with the intention of supplying people with cigarettes and pot. And I did both. I brought a can of American Spirits and 200 filters and a little roller. And asked anyone around me if they wanted a cigarette when I rolled one for myself. And at the exodus I asked everyone waiting in line in my area if they wanted one. Lots of people loved the So Cal herb too. Great theme camp idea. I will definitely stop by.

This is an amazing idea!
Evening smoking it self is often a rite of passage! Its one of those things that people typically start in their teen years. Then eventually you're allowed to buy cigs your self. Then eventually you get tired of buying manufactured cigs and start rolling your own, or at least your choice in flavor and brand matures.
Or the cliche smoking of a cigar after a baby is born.

I think it would be cool if you had some posters, or media regarding how much MOOP can be created from cigs.

Try to get some really tacky old ashtrays to set around the smoking area of the camp.
Gonna need lots of coffee cans to empty the ashtrays in. Or possibly even 5gal buckets.

I'm not willing to commit to any on playa events tell I have purchased my ticket. But I'd be willing to 'lobby' for a few hours one day or two.

I gave up the regular stuff a decade ago, more, actually. Just a treat of a clove now and then, now. Of course, since you can't get them other than as a mini-cigar anymore... grrr....

You can grind up cloves and mix em with tobaccy, tastes surprisingly similar to old school cloves.

When I ran a casino bar restaurant (and the laws still allowed smoking in a casino food outlet...now, only the "blue joints" or "open to gaming area" outlets allow smoking)

...as the Maitre d', I would ask the fun patrons "Would you like to be seated in the Smoking section? or the Chain Smoking section?

(everyone wanted the ~Chain Smoking~ section!)

Does coughing up your first lung qualify as a rite of passage? Could have a tie-in to the theme. Though not knowing anything about special effects, I have no idea of how one would simulate that.

The last two burns I've found some of my time talking to a camp-mate about an idea like yours. Although more along the lines of the take-a-penny, leave-a-penny tray in stand form with a locked cabinet to keep cigarettes when not open. (The stand would start out with product, btw.)

One of the things concluded in the conversations would be a hard number cut off point in operation for the day. In other words when the amount of product going out is pass X, including adjustments for intake, you shut down. On the flip side, also having a hard cut off number for input to prevent diminishing returns. We figured that this method would prevent running out during the week or hauling out a lot of product.

Going back to the locked cabinet, it's a suggestion after getting to know a straight edge burner. Who would be more then happy to steal smokie treats from people. Hey! Everyone comes to play in the dust after all. Just say'n.

I think this is great sometimes a rollie to supplement the filters (which inevitably get given away) I would only say I love American Spirit blue filters, BUT the rolling taobacco has so many birds eyes i would go with something that is kinder to roll :) HAPPY NEW YEAR 1/1/11 wow!!!
