I was looking and looking and looking, trying to find out when "Burning Life" (nope, "Burn 2.0") was going to happen, because the people running the event didn't seem to think that the schedule was something worth posting on their website. The thought came to me, finally, that in the time I'd wasted trying to look this shit up, I could have walked to Burning Man.
So I said "fuck it", and stopped looking. I think that B2 has since come and gone, but I'm just not that fucking curious, any more.

I am fucking putting my body up for sale. On top of the fucking endless gout, now I've got a fucking kidney stone. Again. Just fucking had one in fucking July.
Fuck.
Insurance kicks in next Friday, I am fucking dragging this heap of a body into the shop & getting a full checkup. Esp. uric acid levels.
And fuck.
(cherry juice check. anti-inflamatories check. vicodin check. health... not so much)

.........I had noticed on the playa surface, (seems somewhere near the esplanade, maybe around 3 oclock or so), two alternating footprints, with a line between.......I thought, maybe Sleestacks or another reptilian taildragger had passed.........
but, when I asked if anyone saw the "3 track maker" they just said:
"no, Eric just walked by, naked and bored"

unjonharley, that may help with calcium oxylate stones,,,,, more so with dihydrate than monohydrate. But uric acid stones are a completely different animal. The majority of the time, they have so little electrolyte that they are radiolucent. Eric's kind of stone is caused by physiology instead of diet. I didn't know this- I can't afford to visit the doc until next week when the fucking insurance finally kicks in. why the FUCK is there so much conflicting information regarding phosphoric acid and calcium oxalate stones?
There are people selling it as a cure and there are people saying that it could be the cause.
I have had people both recommend a massive dose of phosphoric acid (through either Coca-Cola or unfiltered apple juice) all the way to being told to cut it out of my diet completely.

All cola contains oxalate. So does cranberry juice (good for infections, bad for stones). There is nothing known which will get rid of existing stones via diet. SIXTY-PERCENT of stones are caused by simply not drinking enough water. Some stones are formed by bacteria and others are formed by antibiotics! The forty-percent of stones not related to dehydration have a variety of causes. Pregnancy, chemotherapy, gastric bypass, liver disease, kidney disease or one can be simply genetically fucked. Your local water may be high in sodium, magnesium, phosphates or calcium. There is evidence the Adkins diet contributed to an increase in uric acid stones because of high protein intake.
Prevention of stones depends upon the cause. I have patients I see on a regular basis who continually produce and pass kidney stones because they are genetically fucked. But the best prevention is a balanced diet and good hydration. Soft drinks, caffeine (coffee, tea, chocolate), tannins (wine, spinach, beets) all can contribute to stone formation. I'm not saying to necessarily avoid these things. Just realize the need for balance.
Phosphoric acid is pretty much broken down in the digestive tract. Same with consuming sodium bicarb by mouth for a uric acid stone. You would have to consume so much of these substances by mouth to make a difference in your kidneys that the rest of your body would suffer. If anything has been found to prevent calcium oxalate stone formation, it is grapefruit juice. I drink a ton of lemonade and "sport drinks".
But I must plant a disclaimer here: Every person has unique conditions, history, body habitus and genetics. There is no single prevention or cure for kidney stones which provides the same results across the spectrum.
In conclusion: Kidney stones fucking suck! But they are my source of job security!
