Wicked dreams post Burn 2010

Post by Edgie » Wed Sep 08, 2010 2:23 pm

I'm having the most vivid intense lucid dreams i've ever had.....It was my first burn and def won't be the last. Just curious if this as common as i think it is. Everyone i went with are having the same type of nightmarish dreams that can't be explained other than, we left the playa.

Anyone get it?

this was my second burn and I am def. having intense dreams. Not exactly lucid, i used to lucid dream and can't anymore (story for another time), but i am def. having intense dreams. I think it is very common. You must have had a lot of openings and energy move and this is just your etherical body processing all of the information.

Burn dreams

Post by Jabbraxas » Wed Sep 15, 2010 6:06 pm

One of the ways that the Playa communicates with us is through our dreams. Intense post-Burn dreams are extremely common. Veteran Burners also experience pre-Burn dreams each year, as the Playa calls us Home and gently nudges us in the direction that our spiritual growth is meant to take.

Get used to Burn dreams. Don't over-analyze them them or spent too much energy interpreting them. Simply accept them, take inspiration from them, and above all allow them to influence your actions. As you experience more and more Burns, you will become more conscious of the way they direct your experience of reality. When follow your dreams, you will simply know what you need to do without being able to put the "why" into words, and it will feel like the blossoming of a flower in your mind.

Original poster: Might you and those who are having nightmare dreams participated in any behavior on-playa that would have flooded your brain with serotonin?

I ask, because several years ago, many of us at our camp sought that elusive ecstatic feeling, repeatedly. With vigor and extra helpings.

Upon re-entry into default world, we experienced what I would categorize as self-induced post-burn serotonin depletion. We were some worn-down, cranky, sad MFers. Many of us specifically had vivid, nightmarish dreams. I found myself sobbing at work a few times, for no apparent reason, very uncharacteristic of me. It took a few weeks to get back to normal emotional levels. I guess I can't say for sure it was specifically due to serotonin depletion, but, based on our on-playa behavior, and our post-playa symptoms, it made sense. We learned from that and pace ourselves much better now.

Lots of rest, good diet, water, exercise, and 5-HTP can help the recovery.

I've been having numerous post-playa dreams. I can't remember them all, just that I'm having them. They aren't good or bad, they're just dreams.

Except last night. The only part that I remember was that I was at a Burner function (could be Burning Man, could be a regional event) and I was kneeling down. All of the sudden, there was a drug dog in my face. Not only did the dog scare me, but the mere presence of a drug dog incapacitated me. I knew that I wasn't carrying anything in my dream, but I was still deeply disturbed that the dog was there.

I've never had an interaction with a drug dog, but I was bothered by the increased LEO presence this year.

I dreamt this morning, that BM was held in SF. I was camped in an old arcade near Broadway and Kearny. It was morning, and we were all out gathering moop, when I discovered all the moop were large denomination bills....and I also found a brand new Nikon digital camera. I think I must have gathered a few thousand dollars, before I woke up.

Then there's the one about BM being held in the parking lot of a strip mall....but that was years ago.

I've had Burning Man dreams ever since I set foot on playa this year.

Nothing spectacular, nothing scary, just every dream is set on playa, typically around ordinary (not theme) camps.

I often remember my dreams, and have lucid dreams, but these aren't lucid, and I don't remember much detail but wake up happy.

Absolutely on the dreams :) ...this was my 8th time to the desert, and without failure (especially the first seven days back into default) every year have vivid fragments while asleep/napping. Being back this year, had a few "murmurs" (would wake in the chair positively thinking I was at camp, even verbally speak out into the air/ mild disorientation/etc.) Not much now (tapering out/re-acclimated) to hometown---I just think they are fun & kinda trippy/entertaining now
BTW--(I didn't take any mind influencer's out there/mostly sober (minus alc.)...I like to think of it/being relative as a type of "Post-Traumatic Fun Disorder" easily curable by applying the same amount of fun/energy you accrued in the dust & applying it back into your community where you're from

dreaming i'm back on the playa

Post by imperatrixi » Mon Sep 20, 2010 10:50 pm

I keep dreaming that I have returned to the playa while I'm asleep, I half wake up and think that I'm in my bed/bedroom and it is on the playa and I get very confused!

Last night I dreamt that someone gave me some of their burning man gear and put it on my bed to transport to the playa because I could travel back there! I dreamt that lots of other people had returned to the playa and had set up camps again. I could see them and talk to them. Thinking I'm back on the playa every night is very disorientating. Has anyone else had this?

I had few dreams and they keep coming some nights.

For few days after my arrival back to my country, I was so confused in the mornings after waking up...I didnt know where I am, what is going on - I still thought I am in USA and was completely confused...it was quite horrible feeling...
