Thanks to my dear friends...
I find it to be somewhat of an overwhelming feeling that I get when I dream about our virgin trip to Burning Man next year. From stories, to pictures and even the coincidental tuning into the webcast as the fireworks started that Saturday night. Each playing an equal part in the emotional excitement that is fueled by goose bumps and the never ending need to travel somewhere magical with my wife. I’ve found myself somewhat obsessed with planning the trip and already feel a bit rushed. Creative ideas are flowing that I was unaware even existed in the first place. What is happening to me?
My name is Chris and I am a Burning man virgin.

I'm glad you and your wife got to make it to this amazing city of like minded souls. Yes, you have been bitten by the bug and now you can start your planning for a return trip home.
I am wondering if this is what you expected and how it differs from what you thought it would be. Im sure others who have not quite made the journey yet would love to know your thoughts.
Its wonderful to hear how it had impacted you, and I hope you hold these feelings for a long time.

Well, the first step is admitting that you have a problem.Undecided wrote:My name is Chris and I am a Burning man virgin.

Undecided--If you go to your profile and check the "Allow BBCode on all posts" (or some such wording), you should get the quotes to nestle properly.Undecided wrote:LolElorrum wrote:per Spanky's, "The first step is developing a problem"

I think it's something about seeing us all. If so, there's a spelling error, or perhaps a dialectical thing going on.

Something about look at yourself totally. I think. I'm confused by the whole "sich aussehen".TomServo wrote:According to Berlitz, "please remove all your clothes." BUT you were pretty damned close! I must have been thinking about it since the last time I had a go, because it's making more sense as words.

Humor is a very hard thing to translate, since so much of it hangs on situation, which is a matter of custom and culture. Tragedy is much easier to understand; being rejected by your beloved is a universal thing; using the wrong fork at dinner is quite specific.TomServo wrote:German doesn't translate, literally, into English. Which must be the reason we don't understand each others humor.

Its not just humor, the gender format has always confused me. I admit, I cheated on my german finals....and chemistry. P.S. use a fork on your hamburger, when in Germany.theCryptofishist wrote:Humor is a very hard thing to translate, since so much of it hangs on situation, which is a matter of custom and culture.
