I'm in.

I have a collection of polka records. On vinyl even.

And, no, I'm not kidding.
*blows Eric a kiss*
Well, mine is mostly Brave Combo and completely on cd, but polka wasn't just picked from the hat.
btw, did you go to the Jews on Vinyl show they had at the Contemporary Jewish Museum last year? That's what you made me think of. Although, polka is more associated with the goyim, I know. My mind does leap around a bit at times.

Mmmmm.... OK, Eric....... That's way tooo TMI........... 8)
I have over 5000 records- I have a collection of just about everything.

1960's hotel lounge acts on local labels? Check

Evangelical Christian children's albums featuring dolls? Check

Disco albums that should never have been conceived? Check

"bawdy" Comedy Albums of the 50's & 60's? Check

Elvis on Soviet Russian pressings? Check

Trucker songs? Check

......

I may have a problem. I've also been informed that I have to move them myself next time. I am never moving again.
Now I'm really sorry you didn't manage to flag me down in August!

I remember at least one of those Christian Doll Albums. There are no words for that kind of disturbing.

It's the largest vinyl collection I know of.

I've known more than one person with over 30,000, including Richard Hite, Bear's brother, with his old collection.
Many incredibly rare records.

I thought this thread was supposed to be about planning a Vegans v. Hillbillies camp? Keep it on track people.

I think Marcy is a little hillbilly, don't you.

Yes, that is the one I remember--different album though.

hmmm...

santas vs clowns
pirates vs. ninjas
Sparkleponies(tm) vs. Art Fags

and now.....Vegans vs. Hillbillies.....

are the two mutually exclusive?

do they naturally fight to the death upon contact or sighting?

is there a history and deep rooted distrust and hatred?

if the answer is yes, then we might have us a feud my friend.

I hate Frank Zappa and most jazz as well. But I don't have the energy to hate you as well.

And, as I said, there's plenty of sound camp hate all over these fora. We're pretty equal opportunity.

TITWI- I'm not fishing for cool albums- these are all in my collection. I don't need no stinking fishing!

I was trying to find some of the ones that came to my mind first (but I couldn't find the Polka Shindig cover I wanted for Fishy)

Ok now I realize you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
Oh darling its all about taste and the subjective relativism that exists in a multi-faceted culture that's bombarded with artistic choice day in and day out. A poignant reminder of our ability to define ourselves by our intensely personal selection of dishes from the grand buffet that the arts represent in our culturally robust society - especially in the arena of music.

Taste. Such a personal thing it is. Instead of allowing differences to devolve into a dark place of acrimony and hard feelings or a divisive wedge issue between two strangers that share the experience of Burningman, why not let us agree to acknowledge and honor the truth that disagreement is a natural consequence of living in a world where people are different in their perceptions.

And that if you should ever find your Phish camp set up anywhere within a quadrant of our humble little camp come by and look us up. We'll be giving away coffee and danish and loading the necessary fuel canisters to go all scorched-Earth-holiday-in-Dresden on your patchouli-slathered, dread lock ass Mr. Birkenstock. By the time the smoke clears you'll think that you've been shit out the ass end of a thermobaric daisy cutter because, well, that's our gift to the denizens of Black Rock City.

Capiche? Hippie.

Now, go get mommy another drink.

I would so love it if there were a Phish camp.

I can't imagine anything that would bring about a more appropriate correction against the haters of People of Light.

Isotopia... oh man, where to begin. You basically just cancelled out your entire first half of your post with the second. I stand by what I said. You're coming after me without any experience or knowledge on the matter which therefore renders your entire argument moot. You simply don't know what you're talking about. It's okay. I'm not here to convince anyone to like a band I like. I could care less. If you had said, "I saw them recently at the Greek Theater in Berkeley and it was the worst shit I ever heard," then we could have a conversation. That's my point. It has nothing to do with differential opinions on music. I like Phish, but I also like a million other genres of music. It sounds like you're the one allowing differences to devolve into a dark place of acrimony, without even seeing the band to begin with. Ha! Unreal. And "patchouli-slathered, dread lock ass Mr. Birkenstock?" Are you basing that sweet generalization off a Rolling Stone article in the mid-90's or something? "Scorched-Earth-holiday-in-Dresden?" Wait, at Burning Man??? You just described 3/4ths of that place. How original. You're just perpetuating the fact that you are clueless and spewing vitriol based on absolutely nothing....but even worse than that, you're perpetuating intolerance. To someone who likes...a band. Wow. Poor you..."darling." Sounds like mommy needs a clue before a drink.

And Simon? You can do better than that, man. You're just plagiarizing at this point (look it up).

On the bright side, the album covers in this thread may have changed my mind. Please come enjoy coffee and danishes at Uncle Bud's Hospital Experience in 2011!!!!!

no, you look up mental midget mister double digit IQ, and you'll find

Mental Midget...Someone hopelessly lost in the fads and fashions of the timepoint in their life when they think they were the coolest.

somewhere, you stopped evolving and decided grilled cheese laden gunny sacks filled with bootleg phish recordings and some dank nug nugs was the secret of the ages, and the cargo shorts and tevas that you so lovingly wear to this day are still hip, and that hootie and the blowfish actually know how to "rock the house".

yes Kent, you are a stereotype, a walking talking preserved sack of american shit culture that started out and will hopefully end soon in the same way, as a cheap PLAGARIZED wannabe grateful dead sycophant band who never got over the fact that Jerry was a crack head and a chili-dog addled poppy shooter who couldnt play guitar for shit anyway.

it's like claiming that Flock of Seagulls was a seminal moment in musical history and to prove it, you're going o wear the stupid fucking haircut the rest of your life. (see wedding singer, the movie)

i have at least moved on, from happy hardcore to mash-ups to dutch house and now back to my roots, cheesy fluffy oontz oontz oontz.

yes, i am a renaissance man, you are a renaissance faire man.
