Ever since the burn I have been getting back into the wisdom of Alan Watts. Mostly listening to his lectures recorded before he gave up his earthly form here in the defalt world. I've thought about broadcasting them on low power radio on the playa next year. Does anybody listen to the radio out there besides me?

Anyway, chime in if you you dig him.

Yep, dig him, on general principle. He popularized some very important aspects of Zen. Still, I disagree with him on the separation of the body/mind. Nuthin personal, just agreeing to disagree.

As far as the radio goes. My camp neighbors listened to the radio, and spending quite a bit of time drinking their incredible cocktails.... well I listened too.

If you've got the Itunes program, you can play samples of Watts on their music store site. His son releases lots of his lectures now and there's a 4-CD set I asked Santa for... pleeeeease!

His thought on the earth "people-ing" the way and apple tree "apples" made me think of 35000 of us showing up in the desert like it's the most natural thing that could occur-- Oh, look... the desert is people-ing again!

I love Mr. Watts. He is far and away my favorite 'spiritual entertainer'.

I bought the entire mp3 lecture collection from his son, Mark, and even a few of the more obscure ones from other sources.

He told me they have no problem with people using samples of his in music, and I plan to make a few ambient mixes with them (as well as some from Ram Dass, Jack Kornfield, etc.)

There's a radio station out of Cupertino that broadcasts his lectures on Sunday morning. Thumbs up!

I love listening to "spiritual entertainers."

Big props and much respect to Alan Watts. He is great at breaking down and repackaging eastern worldviews and concepts for western-reared brains such as mine. Listening to him has significantly informed the way I look at the life, the world, reality, all that stuff. There's days worth of mp3s of his talks and lectures out there on the webz. He's the real deal.

Also vital: Ram Dass (Richard Alpert); hit up netflix for "Fierce Grace." What up Jack Kornfield, he wins the soothing smoothed-out mellow hippie voice award. Shout outs to my man Tim Leary - you still live my man! Can't forget Robert Anton Wilson. Terrence McKenna, I see ya. "Autobiography of a Spiritually Incorrect Mystic" by Osho.

If you like Jack Kornfield, you should check out Joe Frank's 'Karma' series. They're audio collages with all kinds of stuff, including a lot of Kornfield samples.
I saw Jack in NYC a few months ago; it was amazing to see him in person. I would love to attend a retreat at Spirit Rock sometime.

I recently heard a good mix of Ram Dass samples w/ music, but I can't find them anywhere. I think they may be from the Cosmix album.

I plan on doing something in deep playa w/ Alan Watts lectures, hopefully next year. Maybe a small dome/tent w/ cushions where you can just relax for a bit & enjoy his musings.
