black light lasers info request
Hi all.
First of all thanks to all for a great burn! Really enjoyed myself and was amazed by all the friendliness and art!
One thing that I noticed were the black light lasers some people had during the man burn and the temple burn. I really would like to get some more info on these. Where to get them for example ;)
Would be great if somebody could point me in the right direction. Googled for a bit and found some things. But I am not sure if that is exactly what I saw during the burns.
Hope somebody can help me out.

thanks for the quick replies!
The ones i have seen on the playa seemed to be alot stronger than the green or red lasers. Are they really the purple ones? and what voltage do you think?
What would be the main important things in looking for a laser pen? the mW?
And where did you guys find the good bargains? I found some for around 80 $ but no cheapers ones yet, most were actually alot more expensive. Don´t think it is allowed to put links in the topic so a pm would be much appreciated. I will continue googling when I have more time.

You can find the good deals deep in the A_a_z_n rain forest of the internet.
They DO look purple, even if they aren't "purple lasers".
Most importantly for our crew though, as dougly mentioned, they give off UV radiation which is really useful if you harness it into something cool/creative.
But just swinging the laser around in the dust can be fun too.

I don't know about the playa, but back when I was interested in this, the best glue for (clear) glass was uv light activated. Sometimes I want to glue things to glass, or glass to things.Fire_Moose wrote:Ugly Dougly wrote:
So what do you do with a UV laser on the playa? Curious.
writing on glow in the dark stuff. pointing at uv reactive stuff...

Hi,
First off, I readily admit I don't know much about the latest cool lighting/ lasers gizmos, so please overlook any stupidity on my part, but..
What I saw that caught my eye was more of a "sparkly" dimentional green laser effect that someone was playing around with. Perhaps this is old news, but I was wondering what it was. I would have asked, but just then a giant firebreathing dragon rolled by and... well.. what are ya gonna do..
Any info on this sparkle laser effect?

I think your "sparkle" is actually "speckle". Please get it right.

I don't know of a way to enhance this. Most laser jocks spend their time trying to reduce it.

The dust causes a lot of effects anyway. Laser beams are normally not visible - unless there's plenty of dust. Where would you find that on the playa?

Please see the safety notices on the wicked laser website mentioned above. Lasers are not toys, even low power ones. They are capable of permanent eye damage
Notice on the same web page the safety goggles.
Also lasers will reflect from a shiny surface and illuminate unintended places, like your own eyes.
Be safe, be careful, be responsible, as you will be liable for damage caused by a laser you operate.
There are federal rules about operation of lasers

Thanks for all the replies.
I ll check the links when I have the change to!
As I said I have to search more. But I am travelling Central America at the moment and that is not the best time to do an extensive search for lasers.. I l l keep that for when i get back..

I do appreciate the concern but I think most people are well aware of the risk of most things in life. Water can also kill you but you don´t have to remind people all the time of the risks of life...
And for the people complaining: Go find a purpose in life and stop being negative
