Free working RV ... in Fernley

Post by TopHat » Sun Oct 03, 2010 12:43 pm

Howdy,

I am gifting an RV currently in storage in Fernley. Here is description:

It's a Fleetwood Jamboree RV, 24 foot C-class ("C" for "Cab-over"), built on a Chevy chassis (350 I believe), 1983 or 85. Some kind of crack in the exhaust manifold which makes it roar, but has about 10k miles left before it's a functional problem.

The RV drove to the storage yard under it's own power, but is not quite working. The engine runs 20 second, stalls, but restarts within a minute. We have solved this problem several times before: the main fuel pump isn't working, so the emergency-backup-idle low-volume pump plays catch-up.

Since the RV drove from the Playa to the Fernley problem free the night before we put the RV in storage, it's a probably an easy fix of the fuel pump. But none of us are in Fernley, so we can't fix it.

All systems (generator, refrigerator, Chevy engine, transmission, etc) work fine, (the batteries are getting old). If instead of using this for an RV, one could scavenge it for valuable parts or use it as the basis for an art car.

If I can't find someone to take this, I will have to pay to have it hauled to a dump -- which would be a terrible waste. Even you can't use this RV/Art car platform / spare parts source, please pass along my offer to anyone who you think might be interested.

Our lot are coming out next year and we are looking at all options - I was even looking at the possibility of someone loaning us the use of a Vehicle since we are coming from the UK.

But we also have a mechanic with us who specialises in repair and rebuilds of live in Vehicles..

So - Unless, this is some kind of early April Fools joke, you could maybe tell us a bit about the van, where its stored, how much the storage costs etc..

If its true, then it seems a big waste of something with a minor problem,,....

Almost too good to be true really

PS - Really wanted to cover an RV in Fur and take it to BM, but somehow - I can't see a hire company letting us do that... maybe this would be an ideal opportunity :)

But I'm alllll ears! :)

Gifted

Post by TopHat » Thu Oct 14, 2010 5:47 pm

Hello,

The RV has been gifted to another burner. I was blessed with three different groups that put forward working offers. I wish had three RVs to gift instead of just one.

As the RV was not in drivable condition, the gentleman who took the RV had to do a fair bit of work to get it off the lot. Indeed, I believe the RV is still in Fernley, awaiting further repairs.

Thanks again to everyone for their interests and good cheer. Drop by Deviant Playground this coming year so I can make you a gin & tonic you won't soon forget!

love,
tophat

Before I will deal to you, I want to see first some photos. Could you please post some photos? I might be interested with that if I see some photos. I will for it. :)

The rv is long gone. Pictures are sorta pointless now. It's been given away.

Yup, and a MIGHTY FINE GIFT! (actually two) that tophat gave this year!

The art car and this RV (not me for either but I have a feeling it went to a good home!)

Thanks for the generosity tophat!

No worries!...I had a dream I found a towable trailer type but it was painted like Bacon! Sorta like a Zebra pattern, ya' know?

@Fishy have you ever seen that sort of graffiti? (I like that muted, flat paint finish, colored BM style of grafffiti, (a LOT) doesn't HAVE to be bacon, & all of the colorful designs I've seen are shcweet!)

I woke up that day....craving bacon, again!!!! I also developed an awesome recipe for everclear flambe bacon! Tricky at first but now it's down to a science...turns the edges all burny and sometimes gives a tiny buzz with scambled eggs added into the pan booze/fat! nomnomnomnom...buzzzzzz!

@Fishy, I'm bummed craigLOOK.com was ordered to shut down, searched 250 mile raduis and crossed state lines and zip codes! UGH! Was such a huge help...hmmm...I wonder if there're any other sites like it out there?
Now it only surfs up non-clist so so ads.
Burners saved and made money with craigsLOOK.com...aw shucks!
(also, crazedlook also never seemed to work)

This is intentional thread drift, tophat deserves some recognition I think!

Also, Why oh Why has craigLOOK left! I am heart broken...I did everything you wanted and ever asked and now you left without even saying goodbye! :(

(sorry, I tend to write like Jim Rockford spoke/speaks? on the boobtube...jumps around from subject to subject...I'm workin' on clearing that up)
