Looking for passangers,we are leaving from NC

Post by Korendir » Sun May 09, 2004 8:49 pm

We went to Burning Man last year for the first time and made the trip with 3 of us packed in a old toyota celica. Vowed never to do it again. So this year we bought a bus and are converting it into a RV to travel to the Playa.

Sat down and figured out that we have enough space to take 12 people, their gear and water.

Which as of now leaves six spots open. All we are asking is a bit of gas money and if you feel safe driving some drive time (an RV title is capable of being driven by a regular liscence).

So get in touch if you need a ride.

What are y'alls plans - leaving, returning, etc. I might drive up from AL to join. I'm taking sixteen 18' tipi poles that rode quite well on top of my Honda CRV last year, if that could be arranged. The entire weight of poles and tipi = 150 lbs. Who and what kind of people are you??

Where and Who and When

Post by Korendir » Thu May 20, 2004 12:25 pm

When well hopefully we will be leaving on Aug 26 early evening say between 7 and 10 pm and getting back sometime late on the 9th. I averaged our trip speed to be 50 mph (it goes a total of 60 mph but it will still do 60 fully loaded with 66 passengers) took a distance of 3000 miles, and came up with 60 hours. then added 12 hrs to it to get 72 and figured the trip should take us roughly that long. We drove it last year in 53 but that was total not counting several stops to sleep at rest stops.

Please if you see something wrong with my estimates please please please let me know.

Shooting to get there at 11:59pm on the 29th :)

Now where is ten miles east of Greensboro NC, but we will be traveling west on 40 to Tenn at the very least so if you are on that route we can stop and pick you up.

As to who , well three of us are Burners looking forward to returning home. The other three are jealous they could'nt go last year and are drooling over going this year. We lived in the Mts on NC in asheville for years till the cost of living and jobs in that area would'nt let us anymore, we are freaks in other words but good careing freaks. Three of us are Registered EMTs in NC and I used to be a Paramedic. We have a decent sized property hear in Whitsett NC so if you want to come visit feel free.

Just wanted to let other NC burners know about the first Southeast Regional Burn July 30- Aug. 1. Please forward to any friends who might be interestered. http://www.transformus.com
Good warm-up for Black Rock City, good opportunity for those who can't make it to Nevada this year. On 800 acres of private land near Ashville.

hey I just posted about my studio in Va. I was curious if you had any room left on the bus, and If you wanted to build any custom art or shelter attachments for it.

Please count me in

Post by DumpStarX » Fri Jun 25, 2004 7:54 pm

I'd like y'all to count me in. I'm a hard worker and have a good head on my shoulders. This will be my 4th burn and I still have a few good contacts out there. I'm going to try and make transformus as well...but Black Rock's my primary interest.. I'm still curious if I can create anything to add to your camp. Do you have a large shade structure planned? As for water containers and cooking, will it be a communal effort or is each rider expected to bring a full set of gear? Have you estimated what each share of the gas money will be?

Gas and stuff

Post by Korendir » Mon Jul 05, 2004 1:38 pm

Had'nt figured out a gas share figured whatever could be pitched in would be good. We are hoping to have a 24'diameter geo dome ready by then and the bus has 4, 55 gallon water tanks for potable water. We are bringing along our alpine camp stoves (we hike and camp alot so a week on camp type food is nothing for us) We were'nt thinking anything really communal wise this year, maybe the next. But we do have space for everyones gear and obvviously water, The water and the camp stoves and the goe dome are open to all of course.

Sorry this took so long we had a friend have a anuryism in our living room and have gotten two weeks behind in everything.
