I stitched one of the strands onto my Camelback for the 09 Burn and it has been there through 2 burns and 3 regionals. I've only had to change the batteries twice in the 15 months or so they've been on there. The wife did a ping pong ball strand out of one of them that was pretty cool. Its looking for a project to be mounted to.

This year, she also covered her trike in 3 of the RGB's strands and wrapped it in white fur for a very nice glowing effect.

It rotates through the color patterns with an alternating fast or slow color shift. Its either on or off, so no user control. But hey, for $7 and free shipping...

I'll dig out my camelback and do a video of it at some point this weekend.

Here's a video from 2009 that shows our bikes at night:

We've each got a set of the white LED strings and a pair of CCTs on our bikes, along with head- and tail-lights.

Last year one of the switches jammed and the little post that you slide broke off. I used a knife point to turn the lights on and off. This year the switch broke on the other light set. I'll be getting another set of lights, and we'll wrap the battery box/switch in Saranwrap to protect it from the ravages of playa powder.

I'll consider the RGB strings if they're not too expensive.

hey phil, what are those CCTs? they look cool....im actually interested for my default world commuter bike, I often have to ride home late at night

Cold cathode tubes _are_ cool! :-> Check for
cold cathode lighting
on Google and see what pops up. We see photos of the tubes on the chainstay, so we put one there on our first use -- the kickstand broke it when we put the kickstand up. So we put the rear CCT on our seat stay now. Your mileage will vary.
