Rite of Passage meets Floating World
I imagine their will be a couple boat/art cars in 2011. Fuck! I miss La Contessa! Anyhow, was pondering the idea of...said boats... performing a "Crossing the Line" ceremony....

Now, where would the line be? 3:00 to 9:00 @ the man?
Soon as I buy that 50,000 dollar scratcher, I'm building a viking ship.

There was "The Abyss" in 02 which was the outer road, so it could be crossing that circle to the deep playa. Or it could be crossing from the inner playa to the outer reaches formed by the Esplanade circle. Hard to know exactly where it is out there, but so is the equator without the right tools.TomServo wrote: Now, where would the line be? 3:00 to 9:00 @ the man?
It's going to be alright.

- Birthdays are rites of passage.
- Could have a camp for people who are turning 18 to celebrate their fully legal human-hood.
- Turning 21 Camp?
- The Temple has always represented a Rite of Passage.
In Ancient Greece, Dokimasia (Greek: δοκιμασία) was the name used at Athens to denote the process of ascertaining the capacity of the citizens for the exercise of public rights and duties. Our culture doesn't have this, much to our chagrin!
Etoro tribe and Baruya in Papua New Guinea where young boys must begin ingesting their elders semen, and then stop doing it at a certain age.
But mostly I see this sort of thing happening:

Accompanied by painful and frightening rituals, probably involving fire.
