Overwhelming Police Presence 2010

Post by phoenix from the playa » Fri Oct 29, 2010 7:15 pm

Perhaps there's someplace a topic someplace I've missed. It's late & I've been busy since early Sept.

I saw "undercover" - i.e. in civilian clothing, LEO's, single person to a car, with night scopes and binoculars. Their SOP seemed to be to focus on crowds of people. Climbing a structure, on an art car, on The Man, etc. They would not leave their vehicles but instead called for uniformed LEO's to make the bust if they saw something they didn't like.

I feel the massive LEO presence this year was aggressive, uncalled for & almost overwhelming. They were there to put a damper on our party! Just showing up with guns at any number of DJ stages is aggressive behavior in a peaceful community!

Can't they be paid off to STAY AWAY? Or perhaps we should find a private playa? Yeah, dumb, I know, but I can dream & hope. I'm also concerned that many of these gunslingers, with recent combat experience, could easily misinterpret a situation & be set off. I hope they get PTSD counseling out there! They act like WE are a bunch of loonie terrorists!

They've no business walking through our camps or parties without bars. They've no business hiding in the shadows behind parked vehicles waiting for an opportune moment to strike.

Party On in the Belly of the Beast!
Ignore Alien Orders!

Your naivete is excusable seeing as you admit to having never been to the playa.

Don't be so quick to assume that everyone who has had a negative interaction with BLM was somehow 'asking for it.'

I can assure you that isn't the case.

I think their behavior in the real world is worse on average.

Try the news.

@ WS...out of sight out of mind....bajillions of burners come from California where medical mary jane is virtually legal...lmao...the "odor" wafting through some camps cannot be kept "out of sight out of mind"...I hope to ___ you aren't camped next to a stoner's camp dude. let alone...oh skip it...use yer noggin' Learn to "bake" things WS

Here's another one for ya' I was asked for "mind alterting substances" by a weary looking, mexican blanket wearing, custumed dude hanging out around a burn barrel....red alarm!       :cry
I announced in a calm voice, to everyone enjoying their burn,
that "HE"<--- pointing at the "asker" just asked me for "mind altering substances" blech...everyone drifted away...I read this was something to do here on the eplaya academy, K? hmmm K?

The permit from BLM and local Nevada cop shops require some "public safety" hence, cops.

Here's another one;

Peacefully sitting on my midget art car some nice cool hip looking guy strikes up a mini conversation with me, says "yer cool, bla bla bla" gifts me some Tibetan Crystals (he bought them, ok fine, thanks for the rocks..crystals are best found/dug and then gifted in case you didn't know WS and I told this person that AND where to find them nearby! up hwy 395! he didn t give a crap...hmm  ) Then he comes back a minute later! huh? and wants to gift me some herb from a glass bottle...whoa! I told him "gee thanks but did you know if a cop gifts a person illegal whatever, said person can then be ARRESTED for possesion?" "so, thanks but no thanks" (I did feel ackward at this point) but he started circling me and the midget cart, going back n forth as to whether I was this or that...cool or not cool...fuck it, I just told him "Nah, you should know better if you're a burner, where's your mic so I can say it loudly or whatever, where's your other cop buddy? I said no thanks, sorry if I'm worng buuut, sheesh, you didn't even give a hoot about what I told you about crystals"....another blech. I am a ROCK when someone pisses me off. He did.

Gami, I posted this elsewhere and yup there are other threads but screw it, they need to know

WS... just say; "There are drugs in RENO!" Maybe add, "go clean up the slums there!" (no, wait maybe not the second part, hahaha...just kidding, sorta)
and that adage needs to be drilled into burners heads, period.

Let them cops collect some pay and breathe some dust, tough. "Serve and Protect" or find another career. Some are just born mean btw. Read the threads mentioning the "loathing hatred of BM" by these cops, ugh. They need to find the burn night thieves WS..there's a real crime. :x :x :x :!: :!:
I'm the MAN in a truck, burner who is stuck, you're in luck! I'll whip out my BIG tow chain and not charge you, not even one lousy buck!

dont get me wrong , im a stoner but im saying u gotta be discrete about things where stuff isn't legal you wouldn't walk around Washington dc smoking a doobie in public around cops so why be stupid and make it obvious at bm? that just gives burners and bm a bad name.. also bake them, make it into chocolate bars, grab some grain alc about 3 weeks and alot of bud and you got yourself one good tincure also for the smell wafting out of peoples camps thats what this is for.. lol

http://www.smokebuddy.com/

and ive had to deal with undercovers its not that hard to spot them cus they try too hard and fail with simple questions and answers

Edit: and i hope i do camp next to stoners... they are friendly and some times invite ppl over to toke

Can't find the thread now, but there was a long one right after we all got back about a guy at one of the sound camps calling out an undercover for being a cop and getting drug behind a truck and beaten up to a point of unconsciousness. Who knows what the real story was but.. something went down.

blah, blah, blah, blah, blah

this topic has been talked to death on many other threads here. The exact stats regarding number of LEOs, arrests and for what are all public knowledge and are no greater for 2010 than in prior years, thought the population is actually larger.

chances of getting busted at BM are no greater than anywhere else in the good ole usa.

now can we move on.

everytime this topic comes up you comment such, i have replied the last couple of times if you wish to check my comment history. so at that point i think others attempts at civility towards them have been pretty much ignored

so really, fuck off
now can we move on
no, you can. you comment each time this topic is brought up that people do that, they obviously dont, and now you have successfully become part of the problem... congratulations, i guess you have to find some way to contribute for us all

LOLOLOLOL And look who is telling whom they are wrong--oh person that posts inappropriate videos on eplaya.

I'm relaying my experiences and what factual information I have read on the topic. I have never had anything other than pleasant experiences with LEO on the playa and that goes for everyone else in our camp as well. The only problems in our entire village, when we were a village, were two citations bars got for serving to minors...their fault.

"inappropriate" is a relative term, dear.

then you must have camped hidden away on the safe-side of the playa where LEOs help you make coffee and lead little old ladies across the street.

since 2005, i haven't had a year where a campmate or a person (or persons) in a peripheral camp were not hauled off the playa in the middle of the night for minor infractions. most of which did not return.

i'm one person, and in MY experience in any given crossing of the playa, i expect (and routinely experience) one or two citations along the way to whatever destination. LEO enforcement is rampant out there.

the "factual" information you refer to comes from official reports. if you think those reports in any way reflect the reality of what goes down on the playa each year - you're a dummy; a stupid dummy.

I think you're trying to take your individual experiences, and those of some you know, and generalize the whole event by them.

I too, have had no LEO negativity.

But, I also realize, there are ass hats on both sides of this.
Overzealous cops, and, fuck tards who go lookin to get busted, then cry about it.

Mostly, the general consensus, is, if you don't go lookin' for trouble, it won't find you.

and, attitude, makes a ton of difference, in dealing with any folks, participants, volutnteers, staff, or LEO..........

If your actions here on eplaya are any reflection of how you and your camp behave on the playa, it's no wonder that you haven't had a year pass where someone in your camp gets themselves into trouble. The only thing that surprises me is that the entire camp doesn't get arrested for inappropriate behavior.

be patient grasshopper........

no one is banned here (lucky for me) unless they really, really piss off the mods and admins..........and get WAY out of line.........

you gotta just "drift" along.

there is also a wonderful feature, called "ignore" or "plonk"........then, you don't even see what they write.

I've never plonked anyone, that I can remember.......seems easy enough to not read folks I don't want to.........but,..........

usually, these trollish sorts go away........and, can at times be baited into totally self destructing and implosion..........

There are recent examples...........and historic.

SHE is a 14 year old HE! And based on the postings, he will calm down once his little girlfriend Peggy-Sue lets him feel his first titty. Until then, we can expect lots of potty dirty talk from jiz-boy.
This is that rite of passage that is the 2011 theme. Hang in there jiz-boy, your first titty will be there soon.

Yep, jizzzz has not come anywhere near the ban zone. As a mod, I figure you're all adult~ish and can choose whose posts to read, to react to, to ignore. If the TOS is abused too much, they get a warning, then are handed off to the admin big guns. But jiz now has to stand by their posts, and so far the community isn't taking to the comments well. The board is community regulated to some extent, that's why we have threads discussing how to treat newbs, socks, and each other. I'm reading and watching, of course, it is what the mods do.

See the smiley faces under the location under the avatar? One puts them on your buddy list, one puts them on ignore, and one disallows contact. I call them radical self-reliance tools. Use them.

Oh, and if you have someone on ignore, you can still choose to read their individual posts. Be strong and resist the force. Those cookies are stale.
