More on Demographics
So, apart from the money/job thing, which didn't seem to have any predictive value anyway, what other things do "burners"--for lack of a better word--have in common?
I think that there's an over-representation of various flavors of geek.
I'm pretty damn certain that there's a lot more men with vasectomies than in the general population.
Anything else you've noticed?

Burners are definitely more DIY than the general population- even a lot of the sparkle ponies, frats & weekenders at the minimum decorate their clothes or try to create something different, even if it is just another goddamn pair of those fake-fur leg warmer boot cover things.
I would bet in conjunction with the above a lot of us have more "junk" or scraps than really necessary laying around our homes as well.

Tubes tied for Her, he has a vasectomy. The dumpster shall be rented in Dec. to be rid of most things not touched in the past year. It's not junk! It's possibles!
He wears high heels better than She does. His legs in fishnets outshine most women. She can shock you with minimal verbal abuse while he just smiles and nods his head. She likes to watch,,,,, he likes to participate.
We have guns, keep survival equipment at the ready and both grew up in rural agrarian environments. We have killed animals and eaten them. We have kept bees and raised gardens and preserved our own produce. We have endured long winters of deep snow and double-digit-below-zero weather for months and months of long winters. In our youth, we would actually cross-country ski to remote destinations to camp in the snow.
He golfs, is involved with the local BDSM community and perverts about anything imaginable.

I grew up on a commune and find it healthy to be exposed to some of that "bureaucracy" once a year.
39, single, never married/partnered up, no kids, volunteer on city budget committee, improvement work projects, the local fire dept and at the burn.

I found that there is a huge amount of burners who are swingers. A matter a fact it was the swinger community that lead me to my first burn.
While scoping out the travel plans of fellow swingers on one of the lifestyle sites me and my wife are mebers of we ran across a buch of people going to BRC.
We had heard about BURNING MAN before but never attended till we saw that like mind folks were going.
We never thought about swinging while there BTW.

My observations are based on the burners I know, so I'm not sure it applies to the larger burner population.
1. Open to new experiences. Sometimes even addicted to new experiences.
2. Passionate about likes and dislikes.
3. Not authoritarian. Liberals and libertarians, mostly, if they bother with labels.

It must be the San Francisco Bay Arean in me, but I thought burners were polyamerous rather than swingers.
I'm betting that that makes some of the "most ludicrous statement of the day" lists.
