I know what a meme is, both in the scientific theory sense and the way its used on the Internet. I am just confused by Isotopia's statement. Most words on the list are in some sense 'memes' but I am not sure what I might be confusing.

I think he's telling me that I'm darned foolish for thinking that "Sparkle Pony" is a burnish term. Rather, it's its own meme.

Although, I never believed that "Sparkle Pony" was a burner term, I just hadn't seen anything that old, or that removed from the "community." There I go again, trying to put something into a larger context with insufficient information again.

I did first learn the term Sparkle Pony online, from a Regional announce list about a year ago. Meme is described as an online term...Merriam-Websters says something like that... "Iso scores again!"

"Yurnish" (hilarious) and... "sotp scores!"

One definition of 'meme' is something like an online catch phrase, yes, but actually the term originates in a theory created by Richard Dawkins and expanded on by authors like Susan Blackmore. Most online 'memes' are a subset of this larger concept.

I've actually read the Selfish Gene and have a good enough working definition of "meme." The question, as I understand it, is what did Iso mean.
