NA meeting at burningman

So I have been going to NA, AA, and MA meetings and I was just wondering if anyone has heard of meetings out on the playa.. My girlfriends says I shouldn't even go if u don't want to be around people that are getting fucked up cuz she thinks everyone that goes to BM gets fucked up.. But I don't think that is true. I like being out there and want to go even though I will be sober I believe I will still have fun.. And better yet, remember everything

Yup there are several groups out there and you can even get a Burning Man Chip!

The gay one that has been on playa for years is Camp Stella. But there are lots of straight ones too. Stella is primarily an AA group, but NA (Narcotics) and NA (Nicotine) also go to their meetings. That's how I know about them, my partner quit smoking with NA and got a BM chip there several years ago.

there are lots of groups out there, and there are multiple meetings daily. there are plenty of sober people out there and most of the not so sober people will respect your decision!

There is actually a lot of long term sobriety on the playa and lots of places to go if you find yourself in trouble. Even a lot of people who normally party heavy seem to prefer going clean on the playa just because you miss so much being wasted the whole time you're there. Me? 24+ years. Hokey Pokey is always a neighbor and Marvo and his folks are incredible! They make me look like a newbie!

I was thinking the same thing when I read this! - "Isn't this the same Casanova who posted about his insane acid trip and being afraid of seeing old, ugly, naked men on the playa?" What is he, sober and part of NA or is he having bad acid trips in the desert amongst the naked men?

I thought that too...and went back and read his other threads. It's possible that he has decided to go clean and sober after the burn? His grammar and use of tense are a bit off; whether it's because he 'forgot' what he wrote in some other posts and has been posting a lot of BS; or he just doesn't know how to write proper English--well, I'll leave that for all of you to determine for yourselves.

good for you for getting sober. you dont have to see the gates of hell to enjoy it and there is support from lot's of others who dont do drugs.

I just presumed that MA catered to chronic masturbators.... which gave me a little "Aha!!!" moment when married with the Fugly Nudies thread. Wouldn't want to exacerbate an existing problem with a whole new penchant for those previously on the prohibited list!!!

I stayed w/ one of the sober camps. Meetings every couple of hrs, great group of people. I had a ball and a safe time, too. And I met a ton of people out on the playa who were totally sober and not in a 12 steppin' program - that's the great thing about BM: you will find whatever you seek. Cheesy but true! I didn't know anyone ahead of time, and had a terrific time. I'm already planning for 2011!

2010 was my first 'sober' year on the playa... I'm never a heavy partier, but decided to try a completely 'clean' year - this in a camp of recreational party folk...
No one tried to de-rail my plan... on the playa it's do & let do... wasn't ever tempted in the least, cuz it was MY decision...
You don't really need a program, just the balls to stick with your plan...
BM isn't out to force anything on you (except 24/7 oontz oontz - but that's another thread...)

2010 was my first burn. I have 15 years of sobriety. I stayed at Anonymous Village with 91 other sober people. They have meetings there everyday for every A.
