White Weekend - be prepared.

Post by geospyder » Tue Nov 16, 2010 8:13 pm

Looks like some white stuff coming in this weekend for the Reno/Sparks area. Serious enough that all the CERT teams have been alerted to be ready to respond if needed. "It's still a bit early to lock down snow accumulations, but the Sierra below 7000 feet could see 1-2 feet with 2-4 feet above 7000 feet. In the lee of the Sierra, including the Highway 395 corridor from Susanville to Minden, depending on when rain changes over to snow, snow accumulations could be 3-8" with 8-14+" in the foothills above 5000 feet, including Virginia City."
You know it's going to be a bad day when you jump out of bed and miss the floor.

We're supposed to get snow here in Spokane! I hope we get a few feet this year. 6 ft of snow would be nice again!
Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

Thankfully I'll still be on sick leave this weekend and won't have to work Saturday or Sunday. Monday I have to go back to work though.
Glad I got the snowblower back from J.D. a few weeks ago, just in case.
Blew an injector in my truck last Friday going up Gieger grade from Reno, and get it back tomorow.

Screw that. Ice is for margaritas, not living in.

80 deg and sunny here this weekend, and we just had a monster 10-12 foot swell this last. Dropped into some serious walls of water..

Our turn is coming. I hope MyLarry gets home to rake some of the leaves or our grass will die even more.

I'm on the east side, the high desert side, of the Cascades, and it's started now. Real light right now, but more to come. Have the studded snows on the Subaru, I'm ready. Gotta' say, though, I really like winter up here. It's fun.

Same here but only the Sierras. Wind has started but no snow. 59 on the front porch.
Had the Goodyear Wrangler Dura Tracs that I bought for last winter installed on my wifes Jeep. Nice agressive, meaty tires. More agressive tread than an A/T but because of nice sipping in the tread lugs, they're not really a mud tire. They're pinned for studs but she did'nt want the extra noise. Switch them out in the spring with a more highway tire.
Me! Meh, I still have still have Firestone Destination A/Ts on my truck that have served me well year round, going on 3 years. Probably replace them next winter.

I have the stock BFGoodrich - Mud-Terrain T/A KM tire on my Jeep. Nice off road but not very good in snow. I'll be replacing them within the next six months. By then the snow will be gone. Lousy timing :D

When I replace the tires on my truck, I'm gonna try Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor. Its an A/T as well. According to tire Rack it has excellent ratings for deep snow, light snow, ice, wet road, dry road, you name it.
The tires I have, only have 20,017 miles but they're showing signs of feathering. I rotate them religiously after every oil change. 3,000 miles.
