Hello all. I have been going to different campout events for years and have been putting Burning Man on the back burner (no pun) for a decade now and am going next year, I have a few questions after going over this website.
How do I go about picking a camp/ village? do i need to pick one, whats the advantage? any techniques on tent preparation for dust control? and How do ticket sales work? are all tickets the same, do the different tier prices correlate to time purchased? thanks for the help.

And if I may add, in your Profile say something about yourself. For example, if you like techno, psytrance, or dubstep; are you looking for a hetero/homo/no matter camp; your age (why, because some camps like my own are 21-and-over); your gender; where do you live; interests, and so on. Give a camp that might be a match a reason to even consider you. You gave us absolutely no reason to even respond. With my camp, many are called, few are chosen. We have no interest in having another no-talent DJ (you can't swing a dead cat without hitting four or five of them), someone whose idea of fun is a drum circle at 3 a.m., another sparkle pony and/or drama queen, and so forth. You dove into the deep end of the pool and you don't even know how to swim yet. Learn, little Grasshopper.

All good advice so far. I'll just add that the search function on here is a bitch. For best results put an "AND" between each word in your search to get best results. Ex. "Barbie AND Death AND Camp" to find all of the threads about Doc Pyros camp. This will give you the threads that all of the words appeared in. Not sure why the ANDs have to be capitalized, but they do.

Camping solo...good move for your first year. Get a lay of the land before going with a theme camp which can involve a huge work commitment...
Drive in, look for a camp that appears to have their shit together, especially one that has a large shade structure set up...introduce yourself, get a sense of who they are, and share cookie with them. Soon you will be a welcome guest enjoying their shade with them.
If you arrive late at night just park and get some sleep. You can always reposition at daybreak. The streets closer to the Esplanade are usually reserved for the theme camps, but we have just as much fun in the slums!
