Isotopia, I cannot get belly dancing out of my head while considering this idea. Is that something you have considered? Or are you wanting to keep it simple stripping with the burqa thing?

The hummus thing would be pretty cool with guests have pita bread to clean the wrestlers. It would probably be the best way to clean the mess anyway,,,, and yeah,,,, I'm serious!

this is a fantastic idea. while you won't find me on stage i'd like to contribute in some small way to this project. i make scarves and niqab as a hobby, i'd be willing to send a box of them your way if you'd be interested...

i just hope that this doesn't mean everyone will expect you to start stripping if you're in Middle-Eastern dress... i'm almost always in mid-eastern dress! hehehehehe.

I did a performance a few years back with burkas. I found just about everybody who had agreed to perform months in advance pulled out in the day or two before.

Suggest a surplus of performers, camping together, with a lot of advance prep, community and commitment.

After all the Bedouins live in the desert why not check out how they do it. I will look for a large carpet for starters.

I've got a bedouin carpet...

There are also a few islamic shops here in Manchester that sell Hijabs, Abayas, Burqas etc...

....Along with the Chilums, Shishas and the like

I like those Bedouin face masks that the women wear... I might get one to try and wear with my SAS Commando smoke goggles

*Ahem* I've already started working on some desert-goddess middle eastern influenced costumes for Burning Man this year... it fits with my personal interpretation of the Rites of Passage theme. I definitely don't want to strip, but if you need, like, costume help or a bartender or something, I would love to support your camp. Again, the name hooked me. Such win.
