"Winter Wonderland" by Gary Hoey just got done playing over on the xmas in frisko channel on SOMA. "Ho ho ho ... it's christmas in frisco"

I'm in Northern Illinois, two counties over from Wisconsin, and it isn't even a Winter Wonderland, here, yet. We're going up to 69 today, and 70 tomorrow, and about the only color I see out the window is green, courtesy of a 60 mph windstorm that came through here, yanking all the dry leaves off of the tree. Mildly surreal.

Right now its 60 on the front porch. Have the south and west facing windows open. By the weekend the highs are forcasted to be in the mid 30s with a chance for the first significant snow

here in the valleys of Nevada.

How far would you have to travel to reach warm weather from where you are?

Laughlin NV, about 400 miles south, on the Colorado river.
Or over the Sierra Nevada to the Golden state. But this time of year it can be damp and foggy in the San Juaquin valley.
Where we live its about 4350' in elevation, in the rain shadow of the Sierras, so that has alot to do about weather here.

Cold and relatively dry, I'd imagine? I was going to say that just being able to escape the cold would make it a lot more bearable, but 400 miles away isn't all that close. Closer than 930 miles away, which is how far I'd have to travel to find temperatures in the 70s tomorrow, but either way, one probably can't make the trip.

While in Chicago, the ground is dry, the sky was clear this morning. The high, today, will be 50 and the low, tonight, will be 45. You need to come over here.

Actually, where you need to go is Ponce, where it's going up to 89, and down to 70 tonight.

That's my kind of Winter Wonderland. Because I'm wondering if I'll ever be able to land there.

FYI that's not "Ponce", that's St Augustine, FL. Beautiful city, and literally the oldest in the US. So cool. I take new FL visitors there all the time.

..and yes.. it was beautiful here this last week. We were on the boat and I even got some surfing in with no wetsuit. The ocean is still around 72 degrees.

This was on Friday with my beautiful little 24 y/o tenderhot.. rowr. Ironically, this is at Ponce Inlet.. the real one.
