Hello from the Ottawa Region!

Post by stephanieOT » Wed Dec 01, 2010 8:45 pm

Hello everyone, I was unsure about making a new thread because my story is very much like Minty's, I am a University student in Ottawa and I am trying to find my way to BM 2011.

Rites of Passage is the perfect first theme for me and my friend. I learned about BM from an aquaintance when I was a young teen and I have since then been very, very patiently waiting for an oppurtunity to go. I told my friend a few years back about my passion to go; I read a lot of the prep material and have gone in and out of phases of researching the event for years and years now.

My friend had a showing of a movie yesterday at our local hotspot which she wrote and made with a buddy from cegep. After the viewing, we discussed the themes of womanhood, sexuality and artistic expression that are explored in her film and she brought up her interest in going to BM this summer. I am myself a frustrated individual who is looking to assert myself creatively and I a looking for an oppurtunity for us to join creative forces as well as participate in a larger-than-life experience. This is why I think the theme for this year is perfectly suitable for our trip to BM

I hope that if you have any advice to share- if you know of tips that can help us get connected to legitamite groups in our area (Ottawa region) and get down to the playa for August I would greatly, greatly appreciate it!

Thanks,
Steph

I don't know how things are in Ottawa, but the Montreal Burners are a fun bunch. On Facebook, find them by looking for "Brûleurs de Montréal Burners." They have access to resources like shipment of cargo, carpooling, and so on, in both official languages.
for me and my true love will never meet again

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Get your ticket as soon as they go on sale...the Canadian quota is filling up fast!
Don't bore your friends with all your troubles. Tell your enemies instead, for they will delight in hearing about them.
