What if our tax preparer fails to ask if I/we have any guns? Since the subject has never been discussed in the past.
Do I have to volunteer that info? Just pop up out the clear blue and say "I have a gun." or "I bought a new gun this year." or "I have x amount of guns." I'll find out in March. Maybe tommorow, since I plan to in incorporate a stop at the gun store while grocery shopping.

Sounds like some double taxation, if the gun was purchased at a store or gun shop etc. I know, this is BHO. What else should one expect. Maybe Harry Reid will show how much guns mean to him, as he bragged in his ads for Senate.

Hey gyre!
I FINALLY, finally, got to shoot the p3at yesterday. Only put 33 rounds through it though. No fail to feed, fire or eject. I was really pleased with that.
It was 26 degrees, no wind at 3:30pm when we got to the range so that left roughly an hour of daylight. Setting up targets etc took some time.
We used 7 rounds of Winchester White Box flat nose, 15 of Remington UMC, and 11 of American Eagle. All were 95gr FMJ target rounds. I know thats not near enough for a break in but had a blast with it.
The only mishap was when I was aiming to take my 7th shot, I put my left thumb over the back of my right thumb and when I shot, the slide put about a 1/4 inch slice on my thumb.
With it being cold out, getting dark, and we were meeting some friends at a casino for a buffet, we called it quits after an hour.
I know its not a target gun but primarily for self defense, I'm gonna put the recommended 150-200 rounds through it.
Its just a fun little gun to shoot. I didn't want to quit.

Got to watch those slides.
Stay on top of lubrication, especially on the slide.

Did you get any 9 round magazines yet?
I love those.

Sounds like you got a very well matched gun.
It should still get easier to cycle after some use.

I hope you get a chance to fire it again before summer.

Guessing one might want some kind of eye protection for that? I remember torching some non-powdered magnesium in high school, one of those little tounge depresser like strips of the metal, being careful to avert my gaze before ignition. Powdering it is going to increase the surface area available for reaction with oxygen and thus the combustion rate and temperature achieved, suggesting that the light would even be brighter.

The strip was bright enough on its own.

yeah, ergo, my "poof" statement.

Mag, by its self, burns quite brightly.
and powdered, it burns pretty fast, but, not "flash powder" like.
But, add sulfur (the sulfur-magnesium reaction is where the "flash" comes from).

yes, it goes "poof" and is fast, and bright.

What happens if you mix sulfur with oil?
Heard of it as a siege technique to discourage visitors.
Either hot or on fire, not sure which.

I didn't get any accessories for it yet. Used the stock magazine and grips.
Like I said earlier, that gun is a blast to shoot. Glad I got it.

Today was at the Regional Public Safety Training Center off of Spectrum Boulevard. If I'm not shooting with my team I'll go to the Derby Dam area north of Hwy 80.

Yeah, I know where Derby Dam is. We usually go up the road towards Como, south of Dayton, or the range in Carson City near the dump. Thats always crowded.

Went to the gun shop over the weekend. I got a grip extender for my p3at. It was $7 and some change.
Cabelas has Speer Gold Dot for $17.99 for 20 rounds. Gonna go there after work on Wedensday and get two boxes.

Be careful with that damn spring.
Surprisingly lively.

Speer should be good.
We tested the Sabre and it was impressive.
My friend still prefers the powerball.
Really a good choice if your wife has any slide issues.

You should be able to tell a difference with the grip.
You can get them direct too.
I hope you get a chance to try the long magazine too.

The owner took the magazine from one of his display guns and showed me what to watch out for. I had a similar experience changing the front hubs on my p/u truck, from automatic locking to manual, back in 96.
The issues my wife has is not having the strength to pull the slide to chamber the first round. The shop owner reccomends she get a revolver.
In order to qualify for the CCW, she needs to be able to chamber the first round.
The shop didn't have any magazines.

If the action doesn't get better with break in and lubrication, I would send it back to keltec and ask them to work on it.
A different approach to holding and bracing to activate the slide helps most people too.
This gun shouldn't be an issue.

The powerball is so slippery that we have never been able to jam it, even with a slow or awkward activation of the slide.
Typically they use full metal jacket for qualifying here.

When I ordered the 9 round magazine, they were only available direct.

Qualified the TCP today. Fired fifty rounds at the standard 21 feet. Not a tight group but 47 of the 50 were within the 9 circle. Not bad for a little .380 pocket gun. Very happy with the results. It will be added to my CCW on Monday. It will be a lot more comfortable to carry than my XD40.

The rain today sucked. Rain on top of 11 inches of snow that we got yesterday.

Fifty rounds from 21 feet. Is that the only qualifying you had to do? The place where we're gonna take our CCW class says qualifying, is from three distances.
3 yards, 5 yards, and 7 yards. They didn't say how many rounds from each post and I didn't think about it.
The qualifying is done at the Carson City range, near the dump.

Normal is 6 rounds at 3 yds one handed, 12 rounds at 5 yds two handed with a mag change after 6 rounds and then the same at 7 yds as at 5 yds. Since I already had my CCW and was adding a weapon he just let me shoot at the 7yd line.

Technically I only needed to fire the thirty rounds but I wanted to finish the box. I'm figuring 200-300 rounds to break in this gun. I'm about half way there. My other guns are too heavy or awkward. This will be my primary concealed carry.

The guy I've been training with, qualified at Ft Benning on the sophisticated downhill range.
He scored a point or two off top marks, expert I think, but it was in driving rain and sleet with poor visibility.
During the last qualification, he scored just under again, but had a bad magazine, and had to clear the rifle five times or so, in a timed scoring.
The instructors said it's the most impressive performance they've ever seen.
They gave him his badge on the field, as a special honor.

I've only put 33 rounds of FMJ's through her so I still have a ways to go before shes broke in. Since the weather here has finally broken and I don't have to work, I'm hoping to go out and finish off the FMJs. I got a box of 20 Speer Gold Dot and 20 Federal Premium Defense rounds. See how they cycle.

I recently received a "Cheaper Than Dirt" catalog and they have factory 9 round mags for $24.95+ tax.

Check the factory total before you order elsewhere.

So far, the only time I've ordered from someone else was when I was already ordering something and shipping didn't figure into it.
Any factory is typically far better with issues too.
When I had a defective mag, they shipped me a new one before I sent in the old one.
No questions, just shipped out.

And some accessories are not stocked anywhere else too.
The belt clip may be very useful with the 380.
Thinking about the lanyard too.
$25 is a good price, but only a $1.50 difference.
