When you're 40 you get to see both sides of this coin and it sucks no matter how you look at it. Yep, you've got the old fuckers jamming up the career path and holding you back. You also have young punks willing to work long hours for dirt cheap and they steal your thunder and try and make you look bad for trying to have a balanced life between work and family.

I got the unemployment extension- it took them almost 2 weeks to let me know, but I fucking got it. Literally qualified by 1 day.
This is the first time in almost 3 weeks I haven't been having a panic attack. I can continue looking for an actual job, not just a "something", and I won't have that look of "oh shit please" when I interview.
Thank you all for your support- we may mostly be electronic friends by default, but y'all gave me a save place to vent.
Now to get those other 4 million Americans the same assistance.

My kid left work to take the wife to Portland.. Her friend at work faints "( for the third time in a year) and falls in the workplace, She is in ER right now.. She is a Prof. of sports medicen.. At least USG is going to keep the plant semi-ready to be fired back up again should market conditions change. Still that sucks. Once the factory housing closes where will those people go? It's not like they can move to the subdivision or apartment complex down the street.
It's just another step in the urbanification of America where pretty soon the only thing you'll see outside the major cities and county seats is fucking corporate farms, mines, and industrial complexes. Technology promised people the chance to live outside the cities and make a living in rural areas...yet technology continues to fail in this regard. I could quickly get on a soapbox here and rant but I'll shut up instead....people have worse things going on.
By the way send some of that snow back to Colorado. If you're East of the divide snow has been kinda scarce this year. We still have fire bans up as it's a tinderbox here.

Fuck-- I really can't handle staying up for something like 30 to 33 hours in a row anymore-- esp. when the bulk of it is spent on airplanes and/or in airports! And we nearly missed the first plane due to a snowstorm (my brother's car went into a ditch on his way to pick me up, and then the trip from my place to the airport took about twice as long as it would have had he been able to drive at the normal speed.)
