What is dubstep?

So I keep hearing about this dubstepping stuff....what the hell is it? Is it like clogging or the 2-step? Is it a form of shuffling off to Buffalo?

Sort of a drum n bass - trance hybrid, slower tempo than your usual DnB (140 bpm vs 160) with instrumental intros/breaks/outros and vocals.

He's good! I didn't see many dancing that "in tune" probably because they cannot practice to any particular DJ and the play list...not sure though, (Simon would I bet)

"How to dance the Hippie Dubstep" youtube video, that one is also gooood, hilarious and the kid really does a good performance!

it's basically heavy bass distorted farting set to a cool beat. like a lot of music most of it is crap but there's some diamonds in the rough. here's a popular song from BM sweetheart Bassnectar:

I seriously just laughed until I cried.

..and on another note, let's fucking hope that dubstep is the new AOL and bites it just like they did. I can't stand the stuff, and it's taken over. Just whompy bass that you can't really dance to, just kind of make weird gyrations and feel like your on a bad speedball trip.

yeah a lot of people do not like dubstep and I can agree that overly repetitive nonsensical bass is annoying; however, under the right hands you most certainly can dance to the good stuff.
