Bah Humbug

Post by geospyder » Tue Dec 07, 2010 8:06 am

I'm in a nasty mood. Think I'll go kill a tree today, tie it to the top of the Jeep, stick in the garage overnight and then impale it on a spike in a pan of drugged water (aspirin). Tomorrow I'll cover it with all kinds of strange looking stuff and make it stand in the corner for a couple weeks. Bahh Humbug!
You know it's going to be a bad day when you jump out of bed and miss the floor.

After not having a tree for about 3 years because of our cat (which I didn't think would mix very nicely with vintage glass balls), we finally sprung for a fake tree last year.

It's a log house with a large open area, small bridge off to the side between two lofts. I figured an upsidedown tree hanging up there from the peak would be just the ticket. Maybe adding some extra cords with hooks for the gifts so they could hang up there too....

Only problem was watering an upsidedown tree.... hence the fake one (which is really Very Nice, kinda raggedy and only cost 10$ at a second-hand store).

Turned out tho, when we set it up on the ground to get it together, the cat didn't want to have anything to do with it. We left it there for a while just to see -- but still no reaction from the cat. So it sits traditionally.

People who enter always say what a lovely tree we have. Little do they know of my disappointment!~ Damned thing's supposed to be floating UP THERE!!!!

The tradition of decorating a coniferous tree came from people hanging Amanita Muscaria mushrooms on trees to dry.

The man coming down the chimney bearing gifts was because when the yurts were covered in snow, a hole in the roof was the only way in, and the shamen (now Santa) would come through the hole in the roof bearing gifts (mushrooms).

Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

Hey now!! that's a great idea! How about a paper tree on the wall and play pin the ornaments on the tree!!
