Christmas is more a Pagan holiday than a Christian holiday. X...greek for kristos or "christ"...is used as such in the book of Kells. I love to see christians get pissed off for no reason when they see X-mas! Never really cared about Xmas that much..once I realized santa was long dead..but learning how Non-Christian, the holiday is/was...really peaked my interest.

You should watch the video. It starts out similar to the 1st chapter of Zeitgeist, but then goes on to show how Amanita Muscaria mushrooms & other medicinal/hallucinogenic plants became the basis for most of the Solstice (now Christmas) symbolism. The tree, the ornaments, Santa, the chimney, etc., all have their roots in this system of mythology.

I kinda like the xmas celebrations of the middle ages. When it was a big rowdy outdoor party in the streets. The less fortunate would go around carousing and demand food and drink from the rich...

My mother still has candle holders that can be clipped on branches of trees. Oh, at this point, I do too. Only caught the tree on fire once. It would be very disorientating to have to do the Saturnalia thing here and have the roles we play on this board all shifted around.
