For example:

In a disclosure of some of the most sensitive information yet revealed by WikiLeaks, the website has put out a secret cable listing sites worldwide that the U.S. considers critical to its national security. U.S. officials said the leak amounts to giving a hit list to terrorists.

These are sites such as gas plants in Russia, etc. Most of the sites are not in the US. There is no political purpose served here, at least in the context of domestic US politics. An attack on these sites would have global consequences. This isn't about "truth". This is about vandalism. He (Assange) is no different than the "demonstrators" I would see in Europe would would simply walk through the business district of town smashing all the windows and setting fire to all the vehicles. It accomplished absolutely nothing. It was simply being destructive for the sake of it.

That is basically what Assange is, an enabler of vandalism on a global scale that could get a lot of innocent people killed for no reason. He isn't any kind of a hero but we have neutered ourselves of any ability to do anything about it. He should be arrested just for being stupid. They would have done that 50 years ago.

Geekster, a lot of people don't seem to view Assange in the same light, including Amnesty International who awarded Wikileaks with their New Media Award last year for dealing with human rights abuses in Kenya.

As far as the sites critical to national security those working with Wikileaks have pointed out that they deliberately removed details of names and locations from the secret list. The majority of the places on the list doesn't seem like it would be too dificult for anyone to figure out. There are no military installations on the list.

Included are:

Communication cables running all over the world
Major port hubs
Critical sea lanes
Various pipelines crossing Eurasia
Mines
Pharmaceutical companies in Europe

Most of these things seem pretty intuitive and I would think that anyone planning something to harm our country or the world wouldn't have too difficult of a time coming up with themselves.

I found that I lost interest in Wikileaks quickly: Assange claims that the prosecution in Sweden was a politically motivated response to recent releases on Wikileaks, and yet the complaint has been in for months. Suggesting that effect preceded cause? Most unlikely.

The Muslim population you are worried about Wiki Leaks exciting are already excited just by the fact that there are CHRISTIANS still alive anywhere in the world.
