Burning Virgins
Burning Virgins
I had a great time this year playing with six! virgin burners. They all enthusiastically jumped into things with both feet, had a great time, and will be back next year.
How about you?
How about you?
For this, my fourth year on the playa, I brought my wife, my eight-year-old son, and my six-year-old daughter for the first time.
They totally got into it! I knew they were burners at heart -- they'd have to be to live with me without losing their minds -- but it was still super cool to see them fitting into BRC like they were born there.
The kids ran around like mad all week, making friends and having adventures. My wife immediately got into the spirit, as well, fitting right into a brand new community. Of course, it didn't hurt that our new KidsVille family is so damn cool!
They're all hot to trot for next year now, already making all kinds of plans. Burning Man -- the new family vacation for the 21st century!

I've jumped in virgins for days -- it's a hobby of mine -- but this year was my greatest triumph yet. My dad and my brother both came out for my wedding. I knew that Dad would love it, but was a bit more skeptical about Bro, being as over the last six years he had got thoroughly sick of my Band Camp Girl-esque ramblings w/r/t Burning Man.. but, praise jeebus, he had a wonderful time, and says he will be back next year. Mission accomplished.
yay n00bs!
Our camp was 16 strong - give or take a few random people who'd come and go to eat and such - and 9 were newbies.
Some were friends I see at parties a lot, some were relatively new to my social group.
It was so very cool to get the opportunity to bond with each of them in different ways though, and show them how much fun BM could be when you're not starving/uncomfortable/amongst assholes.
Having awesome neighbors helps a lot, too.
Hopefully some of them will camp with us next year, I'm also hoping some take the initiative and get inspired to do someplace cool for *me* to hang out at next year!

Newbie to Burning Man needs as much advice as she can get...
Hello, my name is Sarah... and yes, i'm a Burning VIRGIN, haha. My 2+ friends and i are interested in making the trek to Burning Man this year. But we really have no idea what we are doing in terms of planning this trip... since none of us have ever been on a trip like this. It seems like such a daunting task to make all the necessary arrangements.
So far, we think we might all fly to Vegas (they're in CA, i'm coming from TX), rent an RV and drive to the site. If ANYONE has any advice, or could possibly outline a better plan, PLEASE ENLIGHTEN ME!!
Hey Sarah,
Be sure to attend the Sara(h) party on the playa for Sara(h)'s and people who love Sara(h) only!
Also, you may want to read up on these threads re: RV Rental. Apparently Sahara RV in Vegas gets good reviews by DJ Big E (LMAO).

COFFEE CAMP is bringing out a virgin friend of ours, K.B. He is creative and funny as all hell. I think that he'll have a blast, and think it will also broaden his artistic sprectrum and horizons (as it did my first year out). This will be my fourth burn, but, unbeknownst to him, I will be vicariously experiencing through him, and just want to see his eyes light up with wonderment and Humanity. Indeed...too many projects/agenda's this year...(My first agenda is always not to have one in the first place
)
sawabewah, after you hit your basics (food/shelter/water, etc.) your biggest task at hand is...what the f**k to wear
I know that sounds stupid, but I just remember my first week...all I brought was jeans and t-shirts, as I didn't know what to expect/wear. Hence, once settled in, I don't think I touched that dufflebag once out there, and opted to just wear bikini briefs most of the time (1. Because it was hot as sin, and 2. because jeans and shirts just seemed like, well, crap!) All I'm saying is imagine the craziest thing you've ever wanted to wear/feel comfortable in, and bring it (times a week's worth). Yep.
