There are many people here that I really like and some I admire. Then there are ones that are entirely revolting. That's life.

I've learned so much! Be kind to others, do unto others yada yada yada. Leave no trace. go topless for one day and feel the freedom and...uh...er....hey wait! I haven't been there yet. Shoot, I must have been dreaming. *groan*
Well, being a noob I've learned plenty in here. Never eat where you shit, never eat anything bigger than your head, the welcome wagon is a large extended family why is charles manson coming to mind? always sparkle at night so you won't get your ass run over, and the most important of all...never try to light a put choice of smokable substances here from the burning man.

Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

So that we aren't splitting hairs in the future, because you never inferred anything about eplaya, you'll need to explain the veteran qualifications of actual BM on playa experience requirements to me, LOL... Eh, skip it, that will take some time...I'm not stupid.
Oh and I didn't show up for any "bucket list" purpose fyi, but better late than never I say...I like it and I'm sticking around.
Just to set the record straight, I dropped freinds off '93 thru '95, I have lived here for 30 years, sheesh, LOL. Get real, countless people work there, drive food in, come and go all week doing countless support jobs. I'm sorry, did I say I went to a burn? I had no clue what date/day the burn even started back then, I think my burner freinds went in early. I'll ask if/when I can find those particular burners. They might have some good stories to share.
All I recall when I dropped my '93 thru '95 burner freinds off, it was usually amongst a bunch of drunk, rowdy guys fighting over and chasing after one of the extra promiscuious gals with the group I drove out and some strange colorful stuff/art piled up.
I stayed a couple few days, they'd return weeks later, spun out. After '96 many stopped going, we all know why.
I have enjoyed a fantastic snow sports fantasy world/life in Squallywood and circling the globe chasing snow around the Earth, including during the burn, that's my main reason for not joining until 2010, the other is due to a crippling injury.
I have no regrets for missing any BM years, Squallywood and snow life,
I am stoked I found a medical treatment only very recently, enabling me to hobble on out there to join BM these days and do the few ADA freindly things at BM...I am in serious, chronic pian 24/7 the entire time...I feel and was told I gave back as much as was shared and because I am local and can haul more, and do have some oddly befitting BM talents, HUGE gourmet flambes and a handful of other talents. BTW, I wasn't raised to be competitive, just nice.
1st sentence I wrote above....I am referring to myself as being a "newbie who has plenty to offer and enrich other's lives" take it or leave it, it's the truth.
I also enjoy learning new things and meeting interesting, nice people.
2nd sentence, I cannot help it if my "cool" mother dragged me all over the world, including SF in the 60's and 70's. I am also familiar with the Merry Prankters and enjoy kidding around, my "cool" mom slept with my "cool" step father, a great man. The Larry/DVDBurner comment was a prank, LOL and to razz this dvdburner New Yorker, I actually liked his "the Orb" music video, but I am weird so gimme a break, LOL (I'm also a born New Yorker, dvdburner, LOL)
OED, I can be very defensive if my efforts are critisized in a non-constructive manner. Add in that my injury makes a lot of my daily life difficult. What seems like an ant hill to most, is a mountain to me. "the chronic pain is worse than a terminal cancer patient but at least they get to die" that is a quote from Stanford Medical team(s). "your chances of a second surgery repairing the spine are grim and too risky" another Stanford Medical team(s) opinion. I hope this clarifies things. I also appreciate your thoughtful advice, OED, when I first landed here, it has been helpful. I'm sure you've forgotten, but I never will.
You also were NOT the only one to warn me, and I will NOT gossip. I'm a adult, I can manage and defend myself. I will not answer any PM regarding that strange PM blitz of unsolicited warnings. Again, thank you to those that notcied the potential of risk to my safety and PM'd me, all were VERY helpful.

What have I learned from eplaya? Plenty and 99% has been superb!
I also learned that Moonrise(who is STILL a noob) really thinks that just because he went to one burn over 18 years ago that we consider him some sort of veteran, which he is not.
I will most likely never be a veteran of eplaya, it takes more years than I have left to live, even if every eplayian died of old age...I would be dead by that same time also, LOL, or maybe not?

First thing I learned on eplaya was not take snark too seriously.
Second thing I learned on eplaya was do NOT post pics of the junk between my legs.
Third thing I learned was to start my own thread to promote my own agenda.
Fourth thing I learned was it is a waste of time to prove DVD wrong.
Fifth thing I learned is there are indeed some very caring, encouraging and supportive people here who seek nothing more than success for others.

You and me both Mule.Da Mule wrote:I've learned that you shouldn't post so much.
I have learned that long winded opinionated thread responses are easy to ignore, and a bore to read and that 9 times out of 10 they contain less than 2% original content.
I have learned that of the 12% of eplayans that can define Syllogistic reasoning, only a fraction thereof can apply it to their discourse.
And this too shall pass...
oh, and one more thing just occurred to me; if Da Mule has posted on the thread , it probably is an indicates we all just need to take ourselves a little less serious.

i've learned a new language.
Now hear me out...
we are now entering into a phase of human communication which involves the enormous transfer of ideas and concepts, nuance and all, in a few words or a video clip, a picture or a link or combination of all of the above to pass on meaning and context to one or many, instantly, consciously and sub-conconsciouly through the internet.
whew.
what this means:
the shared pop cultural references, shared links, shared clips quotes and "Kittehs" have formed a framework where we can almost text whole books with a minimal amount of information. By using triggers and archetypes, we can gulp down whole chunks and condense it quickly to it's nugget. This is a pre-cursor to true telepathy, and the eventual way we as humans will communicate.
whether electronically enhanced or natural, we possess this ability.
when i say to you "These are not the droids you are looking for" you now INSTANTLY what i mean and in what situation it would apply.
i could explain a whole five page dissertation in those 9 words. it's Impact and meaning grasped by virtually all, and yet all i have said is 9 words or perhaps shown a 6 second video clip, possibly with a wiki reference and thats all i need.
the augmentation of the human brain is possible and we are doing it as i think, i'm sorry, type...and this will allow us to not only be able to comprehend more but also EMPATHIZE more as we begin to see the myriad of similarities we all share as PEOPLE.
we live in very interesting times, and the e-playa is a part of it.
now back to our regular pre-programming.
