But, can I still hang out at the HQ on weekends?actiongrl wrote:You know, not every upgrade happens just because a new release comes out. I'm personally THRILLEd that people use it and would like to see more support happen for it, but while it's fun to pretend to be pariahs, the fact is, your ticket money is stretched out darn thin as it is, and for a free community site with zero ads and all, it ain't so bad if you ask me - problems notwithstanding, it's part of a whole suite and there are things in the BMan world that are far more borkened than the ol' ePlaya...and require more attention, sooner...
The "comfy shoes" analogy is pretty apt...but indeed, don't get me wrong, I'd like to see us get into some new shoes too. Maybe 2011 is the year to do another round of user feedback and talk about how we can improve this experience.
Do admistrators really care about ePlaya?

People tend to get what they expect (or are willing to settle for). I'd rather they raise the ticket price to cover the cost of IT maintenance and reliability. You get what you pay for.actiongrl wrote:You know, not every upgrade happens just because a new release comes out. When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

And raising the ticket price would get us another few rounds of bitching about how Larry has betrayed the ideals of the event. Actiongirl--Sorry if I sounded dismissive. Yes, I'm annoyed when eplaya goes down. But the occassional funkiness doesn't actually affect my basically positive feelings about this board. Free is pretty good in my book, by which I mean free from advertising. I'd probably prefer a crayon and a fax machine to Facebook.

and that's another one of those ridiculous arguments, ranks right up there with the "radical self reliance" excuse--"betraying the ideals of Burning Man".
