Well, is islam a danger to the West or not? Here is a quote from a writer who was previously a believer and helped to install the grand imman Khomeini .

Although it's not politically correct to say so, Islam is NOT a "religion of peace".
It is a violent cult with ridiculous laws.

As for it being a danger to the west, just go to London.
When I was first there about 12 years ago, it was like any other city.
Now, it's literally infested with "ninjas" (Muslims in full burka).
Many other European cities are having the same problem.


On a lighter note, it's kind of funny that their holiest item (which they face towards several times a day & make pilgrimages to go see) is nothing more than a meteorite (the 'black stone').

Every religion has a wide open door to become a danger. Most acts of terrorism committed on US soil were committed by christians. While the majority of people of any religion are not so indoctrinated as to justify killing in the name of... The logical pathway is there once the human mind can be made to embrace faith, which is simply believing something despite a complete lack of supporting evidence and mountains of evidence to the contrary. Once the mind is convinced to make this leap a person is just a few logical steps and some bad circumstances away from the ability to justify monsterous acts whether they be muslim, jew, christian, hindu, scientologist or what have you.

I probably wont be lured into any protracted debate about this, the arguments are older than I am, the rationale is well established and it's really pretty pointless to try and convince someone who doesn't wish to see reason. But for what it's worth, that's my two cents.

I do enjoy debating atheism vs theism, but... this is my happy place.

J-step, I agree with you on all counts. I think that it is important to differentiate between groups that are fighting for control and groups that just want to be left alone. You don't see the Amish causing problems. As a society, I believe that it is incumbent on us to make an effort to get along. "Kill the infidel" is ALL wrong. Some groups fight for control. Some groups fight to be accepted. Some don't worry about it.
Everyone has divided loyalties. This can all be held , more or less, in balance. For most people, religion is a part-time crutch. For clergy, a full-time obsession. Obsessions don't allow a functioning society if they demand killing of non-observers. This is anti-societal.

There is another large problem. The birthrate. This is definitely anti-societal. Look at the 2 graphs on this page;

These trends can't continue for much longer. I expect that the countries that have let their population run away from the food-production ability will soon have big problems. Inflation is driving up commodities. Weather is driving down supplies. I suspect that the West will try to insure that food shortages hit muslim countries the worst.

I would agree Islam in general is a threat to our traditions and liberty. But that can be said about any religion pushing for theocratic rule. Currently, Islam does push for "tolerance" while exemplifying the epitome of intolerance.

I do not believe the general population of Muslims seeks global domination. The appeal of Islam to the ignorant, orphaned and desperate make it a gate way for a cult-like following. Unfortunately, we failed to pick up the pieces after Russia fled Afghanistan and left a tribal nation to the mercy of malevolent gangs seeking power in the name of god.

I do not doubt their resolve or their belief that what they seek is righteous. But their world view is very small. All the radicals know is what they have been spoon-fed.

Bottom line,,,,, all people with idealistic goals based upon the control of other's thinking, moral values, way of life and liberties is a danger to our society.

Neon, some people may quote the Old Testament but, I doubt that anyone is using it for a guide for living. J. C. was a big improvement on the old books. The only soy product I consider healthy is organic tempeh. Most other soy products are extremely overprocessed.
I still think a bit of soy milk is better than non-organic dairy milk on the rare occasion I have a chai.
