My discomfort with the Rev. and Church of Stop Shopping is based on the stories someone camped near them told me that made it apparent that they hadn't previously been burners and that they didn't "get" burning man on certain levels. I'm reluctant to pass on details, because it's not my story. And I don't think it's resonable for all of you to just accept that I'm "right" without details. That's part of why I posited it as a hypothetical.

Does this mean that I think only seasoned burners (I like cumin and cayenne myself) should be subsidised in their large scale public art? Maybe.

iI suspect that like many things, if Larry wants it, the rest of us may not have recourse.

My discomfort with "The Church of Stop Shopping" had nothing whatsoever to do with Burnng man.

It has to do with the phrase "Church of Stop Shopping" followed by the $5 or $10 admission prices listed on their flyers.
