Burning Man/Desert Threatened

Post by grob » Wed Dec 29, 2010 11:25 am

Hey everyone! I wanted to share something that I think we should all care about. The City of San Fran is planning to ship it's trash (along with sludge waste) to either Yuba County farmland or to a landfill in Nevada next to where Burning Man is located every year.

Help out by signing the online petition to tell the Board of Supervisors to do an environmental study first before they decide. Sign the petition!!

It's gotta go somewhere, just not in my backyard!

That landfill is gonna be over by Winnemucca, nowhere near Burning Man.
We have an obligation to make space for everyone, we have no obligation to make that space pleasant.

We really need to figure out how to safely and cheaply jettison our nuclear and landfill waste into the sun.

I read something the other day that the powers that be in Winnemucca voted "no" on the dump going in at this time...

there are a couple of "HUGE" pits, from iron mining, just south of I80 and Lovelock.
I bet, it'd take decades to fill them, and, no rivers or the like anywhere near.
The bottom of one has a sulfuric acid pond........

Naw, PlayaWaste Waders!

(Hm, a sulfuric acid pond would be refreshing in ANY camp!)
