I guess the store is still open after the accident, and never really closed.
I have an idea that may actually save this store.

The article says that the owners parents have the storage units next door. Why not have a service to ship participant's supplies out to the area. It can be held for pick up during the festival. Also, boxes can be shipped and then placed into the storage unit that mom and dad own. Imagine being able to send boxes for the playa all during the year.
This may also provide some much needed jobs in the area. (maybe not 92 jobs, but a few would be nice)

The store is on USG property.
It's gonna close, there is no stopping that.
It might be open for the event this year, then it's lights out.

Sounds messy for sure, I ponder...

Why did the hot pools close?

Why does the "toad" disdain burning man so much? "burning man is an eyesore and a traffic jam" sounds chipper! I daren't wish to hear the real answer.

Why didn't the Empire Store's new buyer have a clue that the USG plant was rumored to close as far back as a couple of years ago?
Was the price too good to be true?
Maybe rolling the dice in hopes the closure wouldn't come to be?

Seems the previous store owner sure got the place sold just in time, eh?

Temporarily expand the store for the festival week with rent a fence and make some dough and bake some bread elswhere, insead of nowhere, is there an "Elsewhere, Nevada?" whoa, I gogled it...I don't wanna go there...nothing but doomsday, doom and gloom prophecies, I'm out.

From what I hear from friends that live there, the "toad" is a miserable grumpy fuck who hates everyone not from around those parts, funny part is...I heard he's a transplant from the bay area.

Considering where he is from, a "traffic jam" would be two cars following each other through town.

"Why not have a service to ship participant's supplies out to the area. It can be held for pick up during the festival"

fed-ex a couple of boxes of shit, fly from va to reno, rent car, buy water, pick up boxes and set up camp,,,,, that would be a cost effective sollution for this east coast bastard.

I have Trademarked(TM) this idea so all royalties for this concept will be going to the "Shambala Vacation Fund". If it works, I will be heading to Costa Rica--if not, it will be Costa Mesa! :D
