What strange museums have you visited, or would like to visit, or just think are noteworthy?

I went to The Museum of Questionable Medical Devices in Minneapolis and picked up all kinds of nifty quackery swag, great stuff. I first saw it on some documentary on cable years ago. Unfortunately they have since closed. Not enough geeks and weirdos appreciate that kind of awesome bulldada I thought. I just did a little search and apparently Bob, the founder, died. I hadn't heard that till now. I'm guessing they closed when his health started to fail.

I have a print from a 1900's ad for tapeworms in a jar (Eat all you want sand still lose weight!) and the Rectorotor (The Ultimate cure for Piles, Constipation and Prostate Troubles!) as well as weird UFO ads, a printout of my phrenology reading, etc etc. It was a great place and the owners, a little old couple, were fantastic. The world lost a great little gem in that place.

Thanks for leading me to revisit this little trove, I wonder what they did with the huge trove of stuff, it was amazing how much they had crammed in their little space.

Austrians are a lot more Slavic than Prussian. I have got to wonder about the quality of the grain in the old days.
(Actually, the folk museum in Innsbruck was pretty fucking weird, too.)

Interesting stuff. The closest I can remember is that plasticine man exhibit that travels the international circuit. Also very interesting, and a little creepy.

The Mütter Museum at the College of Physicians of Philadelphia is REALLY cool.

I visited the Museum of Bad Art in November………it lived up to its name.
How do I get a hold of you?

You just contact the mayor's office. He has a special signal he shines in the sky; it's in the shape of a giant cock.

We went to "Ripley's believe it or not" museum in Chattanooga, TN in 1991 or 1992.
The most interesting thing, to me anyways, was an alleged section of the Berlin wall.

I went to the science museum in Amsterdam (NEMO) and they had a section of deformed animals in jars. I remember some monkey Siamese twins sitting in a big jar of formaldehyde with their mouths wide open like they were screaming. Makes me kinda nauseous just thinking about it, lol.

I was surprised how open and informative the "sex" section was too. You'd never see anything like that here in the US, at least not in a museum geared towards kids.
