I'm Glenn -- with no last name. (NO LAST NAME issue?)
This year will be my first burn, and I'm concerned that I will have 'name issues' buying my tickets, since my full legal name is Glenn.
I almost always have trouble with web-based forms.
I assume there are some burners with equally frustrating name issues, so I'd love to get some advice...
I'm an artist, I've worked with berms of dirt; carved trees -- I made a 16 foot Kukailimoku - 'Ku' the fierce and toothy Hawaiian 'god of war' from a 20 foot stump of a date palm, it was like trying to carve rope, carved a large stump (too much for the store to remove it, cheaper for me to carve it) into two spy-hopping dolphins; I make woven funky blankets and install them in the environment from which I found the objects and materials -- urban detritus -- and now that I own a camera, I am anticipating doing a photo series of urban blankets; I do special effects work when I can get it, and some animation, and motion graphics.
--
...here's the part that might get some interest: I do video collaborations with musicians and other sound artists, so if you want some help fulfilling a vision you have, I'm your guy.
I teach juggling and flow arts, I'm teaching and learning from Flow Temple and others in their extended community. I've taught thousands to toss juggle or manipulate fiddlestix. I've been a professional clown, was such for over 20 years and I have taught clownology to an uncounted number of aspiring fools.
I always used to miss Burning Man -- I was always working Front of Stage or something at the Hog Farm Family Pig-Nic on that weekend -- I worked security for GDP, Fillmore Entertainment, Family Dog, Shoreline, and Bill Graham Presents...
... now I'm not. All of my burner friends have been trying to get me to go for years. At this point, I can't pay for a ticket, but trying frantically to get money up for one before next Wednesday.
I hope to spin with one of the conclaves, or maybe join my friends at Prometheatrics theme camp.
I'm in my early fifties, I live in the San Fernando Valley in Southern California, single for over a year -- I'm interested in meeting a compatible woman, or women, but not really looking. I think you just do what you love and The Right One will just appear right there, doing something that goes real well with what gives you joy.
...when you see me on the playa, say hi. I'll probably be wearing something newbish and fairly boring, and sporting a big dazzled grin, probably spinning something or tossing something, and open to anything.
If you want to drop in and say high, or stir some shit up, my facebook page might be the best way. I work on the computer a lot, so I'm often online.
Wow, I'm online right NOW:

don't google me, those bios are unreliable. If you do, use "I was running late so I got dressed in the park" and "now is when things happen" to narrow the field and cull the imposters.

a) Go to your profile. Enable "BBCode". Your posts will look like the above- with your coding working.
b) You don't have to buy your ticket next Weds. You have until the end of August. You can even get them at the Gate, although they get really expensive there. After Weds you'll be buying 3rd tier at $280 (which will run out probably in Feb) or 4th tier at $320, which last until Aug 26th. Then, as I said, they go up. A lot.

Thanks for the help. I have changed those settings in my profile, but they don't seem to have an effect?
Well, aha! they do. Apparently not for my original post.
I am really feeling like I need to get my ticket as cheaply as possible, if not I might not be able to shoulder my share of the expense gracefully -- It seems pretty evident that the ticket is not the big investment here.
And at the same time, I'm pretty aware that I went 7 years before I made it to my second dead show, and that I've been missing the burn for years.... and that it really is going to feel like home when I'm finally there.
I feel like I have to make it this year. With what's gone on in my sphere lately, I'm more aware than ever that you can't put things off, that what you are going to do later becomes pretty easily and quickly the the thing that you are'nt ever going to do.
So I want to buy my ticket the very first day if I can.

You can apply for a low income or scholarship ticket. I'd think you'd do well with the scholarship, and you can pay with a money order. Check the main ticket page for details and deadlines. See if you think it would be a good fit for you.
Spinning with the conclaves ... you can always find folks to spin with all over the playa. Spinning inside the Great Circle on Burn Night requires you are in one of the conclaves, pre-playa, because you must go sign in once you arrive. Your name will be on a list, and your shin will hand you a laminate which allows you to be inside the circle. They're very tight on this anymore. I'm a fuel master for the Utah conclave, so I've been through it a couple times. Oh, performers qualify for performer tickets, but the catch is your shin has to put you on a list and you get an email sometime in July or August. Makes planning a bitch.
Hi, howdy. I fixed your first post. I can do that, buwahahahaha.
Welcome.

So now I'm in a conclave, and am set to go with the vanguard for our theme camp.

Hey Glenn, Welcome to ePlaya!
I have a feeling that on the first night you get there, you are going to kick your self square in the ass for not coming to BRC sooner! But there always has to be a first time!
Great introduction, by the way.
