Good idea/bad idea? gifting little bottles of hand sanitizer

bath and body works near me has those little bottles of hand sanitizer on clearance for like $.28 each was thinking of buying up a shitload of em and gifting them either at the big burn or at the texas regional flipside. 80% of the time i went to the porto johns at this past burn the hand sanitizer had run out and i thought this might be a good gift for ppl my only concern is the little bottles turning into moop

what do yall think? good idea or shitty idea?

I'd be happy to get little bottles of hand sanitizer, but then I know where my hands have been when I'm at Burning Man.

i was thinking about trying to rig something up for that they sell keychain holders for em in funky colors but the holders cost $.50 each which isn't a lot but I was thinking of getting 100-200 hundred which would add up fast. i think i'll try and figure out a way to rig em up myself

actually...and I couldnt tell you where to find them, but Ive seen lanyards attached to rubber rings that slip over the opening of the bottle and are held on by the screw on top.

Personally speaking, I wouldn't put it around my neck. I wouldn't waste the time or money on that and buy more bottles to gift.

I gave out about 400 small .5 oz bottles of Purell two years ago. Very well received, especially near the end of the week when the JOTS were running out.

Another thing you could do is have a larger dispenser in your pack and give out squirts to people - clean hands and no moop.

If you google, I'm sure you can find some diagrams that show you how to do nice little loops for the string to go through. It would be an adaption of wire jewelry making. I'm sure there are videos, too. Forgive me, I've done enough messing around with beads to appreciate a well done connection, so I had to mention it.

Elastics come to mind.... thin enough to sit snugly under the cap, but strong enough to withstand life out there - doubled over to create a "noose". Then people can just attach them to their caribiners (which seem as necessary as toilet paper from what I've read). You might have to cinch the noose with something to keep it taut, but that should be easy enough to do very cheaply and quickly.

I'm thinking hair ties? Maybe buying thin-enough elastic rope by the spool and making custom ones? Some long enough that the bottle can be redoubled back thru the loop to attach to a grommet (or a button, or a backpack loop...) for anyone without the caribiner?

Whatever was done with it, even if nothing at all (for those who just want to plop them in their bags), I'm sure it would be appreciated!

I've got to agree tho, that priority of spend would be on getting MORE of the buggers rather than in tarting them up. It IS sanitizer after all.

(personally I'd keep mine and refill it year 'round even if it were plain, 'cause I'd know where it had been and would imagine it had magic powers to get the stink of a normal day off me better than any other product out there!)

For $0.28, you get what you pay for.

A real gift would be a way to never drop that little guy. I can't speak for DPW, so although I've never found one as MOOP, I'm sure it happens all the time. In my opinion, a hand sanitizer carrier would be more valuable than a tiny hand sanitizer bottle; both together would beat just the carrier.

Better idea: buy a few refills for the porto-potty pump dispensers and replace them when empty.

Free squirt = much better idea.

Waaaaay less trash and MOOP potential, plus you could turn it into something fun.

I've had the idea for years to set up a table outside the toilets, with tampons, hair spray, mints, all that sort of stuff, wear a tuxedo, have hot towels for people, etc.

Gifts (ie, free hand sanitizer) incorporated into action/volunteer/"performance art" are always more memorable.

Was given a tube of Pomegranet lip balm, on a lanyard...Lasted me two burns. Also recieved a small bottle of sun block, on a string. I refill it and use it to this day.

I was given lip balm on a string at my second or third burn. As I use it up, I just switch the cap with the string onto a new lip balm. They all pretty much are the same size. I wear it, or tie it onto my camelbak or bike. Handiest thing ever.

Last year, there was a camp next to the potties near us who set up a comfort station table with wipes, plastic bags, sanitizer, lotions, and so on. Nice.
